He's paid like a top 5 player in the league and he needs to provide commensurate value. If his body doesn't allow him to do that anymore and he's sub ppg and a 35 goal scorer who can't stay healthy then we absolutely should trade him anyway.A lot of talk about how the Leafs need to get better for Matthews, which is totally fair, but it leaves out a big part of the puzzle which is that Matthews needs to be better for the Leafs too. Clear the slate of excuses for next season, he needs to get back to his 50-goal (at least) scoring ways if we want him to stay.
