2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

The league is feverishly scanning this video for any violations Chayka may have made.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

The Leafs updated the coaches on their website and Sullivan is not listed as an assistant coach anymore, or anywhere else on the page. Again presumably that means he's taking a different position in the organization somewhere, likely either Marlies head coach or management.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Lalonde and Van Ryn are both out. No mention of Sullivan here. Chayka said something about the possibility of someone in the coaching staff being moved to a different position in the organization a little while ago when he was asked about the rumour Van Ryn wasn't returning. Guessing that's...

Convincing Alfredsson to leave the sens... for the Leafs?! That's a hell of a salesman.

I'm sure Flyers fans would be reasonable if he struggles.

    Armchair GM Thread 2026/27

Wright has a higher ceiling I think, especially as a centre, but more bust potential. Cowan is a safer bet to be a consistent middle-6 forward. It'd be an interesting trade. His faceoff issues could be offset, at least for the next couple years, by having Tavares on his wing.

    Armchair GM Thread 2026/27

Would you do Wright for Cowan? That's probably the only way it works for Seattle.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

When I plugged him in at $2mil the other day I realized that would have made things tricky for the Leafs to fully utilize all of Domi's LTIR space (if/when that happens), so I figured that he would come in a little lower than that. Even better that they got it to that number on 2-year deal...

    Armchair GM Thread 2026/27

It's their right side that's been gutted though with Carlson, Trouba, and Gudas all leaving via free agency. They still have LaCombe and Mintyukov on the left side which is really decent. But yeah pretty bizarre offseason for them so far. I'm surprised they didn't move McTavish for a RHD...

Confirmed to be another one-way deal, which certainly makes the decision to stay a lot easier.

    2026-27 Minor Transactions

It's both (well success, not necessarily money). Developing prospects in a losing environment just isn't a good idea. And again without veterans at least somewhat leading the way a team will get stomped in the AHL. There's no real way around that. It's also not just one way or another. You...

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Yeah I've always liked Hardy and was glad he stuck around during the post-Dubas exodus. Especially since as I've said before I really get the feeling that Treliving sort of downgraded his role while he was here in favour of people like Clancey and Doan.

    2026-27 Minor Transactions

Guys like Cowan, Danford, AA, Villeneueve don't get to experience what winning an AHL championship feels like without guys like Lettieri and Shaw and Mermis and Benning, all guys who won't get another sniff at the NHL again probably. You can't have success in the AHL with just prospects leading...

There was talk Lettieri was KHL-bound, so nice to see him back. Good AHL programs need guys like him.

$9mil for a guy with 64 points next season. Sure didn't get them any kind of discount eh.

Maybe, he's not exactly a heavy-eating PK minute defenceman either of course. But regardless of that I think that will definitely need to be put on the back-burner for now as he's likely off the market until at least midseason.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Can we play some forwards on D? But yeah that's certainly an area of concern as of right now, especially with Stecher likely not being an everyday defenceman. Raddysh, Rielly, OEL, Andrae all didn't really kill penalties with their teams last season. Hopefully like you said that's something...

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

I'm not crazy about the top-6/bottom-6 method, especially against some of the other top teams in the East. But for whatever its worth, I do think this is a group of players better suited to going that route than we've seen in the past here. But I don't think it's a guarantee that's how our...
