2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

His high(ish) qualifying offer made this a tough choice but I would have liked to see Maccelli back under a different coach next season. He played at a 45-point pace last season, and a 50-point pace once he escaped from Berube's bizarre month long benching. His 5-on-5 points per 60 minutes rate...

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Well I'm slightly more optimistic than most about his ability to bounce back from this seasons performance, but obviously that doesn't change that he'll be 38 years old when the season starts and wants a long-term deal. It'll all come down to the contract.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Similar to a lot of guys heading to market right now, I like the player but really don't want much to do with his likely contract. One projection source has him over $6mil with some term.

    NHL Draft 2026

    Yeah first weird pick.

    NHL Draft 2026

Looking at guys who are currently falling Alessandro Di Iorio would seem like a solid pick at 85.

    NHL Draft 2026

Corey Pronman had him ranked 25th overall in his rankings.

    NHL Draft 2026

A bunch of defencemen I thought would be interesting picks at 60 or in the 3rd round that are still available: Axel Elofsson, Ethan MacKenzie, Luke Schairer.

    NHL Draft 2026

Leafs now pick: 60, 69, 73, 76, 85 after the Carlo trade. No bathroom breaks during the 3rd round for Leach and Brackett.

    NHL Draft 2026

Galvas goes to Pittsburgh at 54. One of the guys I had my eye on for our pick at 60.

    Carlo traded to St. Louis

Obviously a lot of time to figure out, but I'm curious what the Leafs plans are for the 3RD spot. I liked Carlo mostly because I think he was a bit of a mini-Tanev who could slide into that spot if/when Tanev misses some time. Think they still need someone with that profile for that spot.

    Carlo traded to St. Louis

Carlo era is over. I think he could have rebounded, but regardless what a bad trade. At least it didn't end up with the worst case scenario.

    2026-27 General Trades & Signings

Burakovsky was pretty bad last season, and notably had just 4 points in his last 37 games. Maybe he bounces back but there's not much value there, especially with a $5.5mil cap hit.

    Armchair GM Thread 2026/27

I figured Giroux was a lock to re-sign with the sens but if that's not happening he'd definitely be a free agent target of mine. A little older now but I've wanted him since he left Philly. Would be a nice fit at 3RW. Somewhat similarly I assumed Patrick Kane was definitely going back to...

    2026-27 General Trades & Signings

Well we don't know that he's looking to command $15mil. Seattle could have offered him $16mil or $17mil and I think the answer would have been the same from him. Seattle, even with Robertson, isn't really anywhere close to being a Cup contender now or in the near future. It's entirely possible...
