Marner to Vegas is finally happening

I would kind of add to all of this by saying that I don't think many/any of the anti-Marner crowd 2 years ago were saying he should be traded because they were worried he was going to make the decision to walk away from the team after his contract was done. Like maybe people started to suspect...

Ehlers: Would consider but believe he has better fits elsewhere P. Suter: Maybe an interesting option if his asking price comes down Orlov, Roslovic, Olofsson, Grzelcyk: Not really a fit Burns: If we need to trade Carlo for a legitimately good and fairly priced top-6 forward, could be a solid...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

The Marlies continue to get stronger. The goal for them should be to always have a good team. If that can't happen primarily through prospects then the few young guys there should always be insulated with vets like this and Boyd. As an aside when I googled him this *insanely obviously AI...

Mantha's deal is $2mil plus an additional $250k bonus at every 10 games he plays for a max cap hit of $4.5mil. But even if he plays just 60 games that's still a $4mil cap hit. I liked the guy too but that's a lot more than I figured he'd get.

They'd have to clear a little bit of room but I'm guessing it's Washington. Possibility to play with Ovechkin for a season, and the Caps will need another high end forward once Ovi retires. With all their long-term deals signed I doubt they'd be interested in a rebuild or even retool then.

That is what Chris Johnston was reporting, yeah:

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

And credit to Treliving for basically trying to do everything he could to make a Marner deal like that work, especially after the initial Carolina one was blocked. What could have been if Vegas and Carolina agreed on something...

I don't really get the feeling he's coming here regardless but I saw that Dreger comment and thought it came off a little... weird and just anti-Ehlers for no particularly reason. I mean if anything a big reason why Ehlers is leaving is because he wants to play a bigger role on a team than what...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

With Murray going to Seattle I wonder if the team looks to bring in another veteran 3rd goalie, or if they're comfortable using Hildeby or Akhtyamov in that role yet. The UFA goalie market is very, very slim right now. Would a 37-year old James Reimer want to keep playing hockey? I don't see...

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

I think the fact that it's Marner who primarily wanted to leave is making this all a little bit easier for me. If he was 100% committed to staying and it was Treliving who made the call to let him walk I'd probably be spending the next several years, if not longer, constantly wondering if that...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I think Jared McCann would make a ton of sense, assuming it's true that Seattle is looking to move him. Would be one of the fastest guys on the team, can play centre if the team feels like it needs more speed there (it does) but can also play wing of course if they don't want to move JT or Roy...

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

Yeah I agree we shouldn't necessarily be afraid to spend a little now because of wanting to save space for next season. Even if we signed Ehlers long-term at $9mil there would still be easy enough ways to make McDavid fit with the rising cap. Heck maybe we send the Oilers Nic Roy for McDavid's...

Mangiapane and Brazeau would have been nice. If you added those two and dealt Kampf and Jarnkrok we'd have: Knies-Matthews-Domi Maccelli-Tavares-Nylander McMann-Roy-Mangiapane Lorentz-Laughton-Brazeau With the D and G and Myers, Reaves, and Pezzetta in the press box there would still be over...

Honestly, he'd probably get more as a free agent right now. So far at least he's been aging pretty well, the contract isn't completely horrible.

Dubas gets him back. I would have done this deal.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Ah I legit wondered about Boyd for the Marlies. That's your 1C for Cowan to play with. Also I know there's bit a bit of griping about Pezzetta but I don't think it's a certainty that he won't be Marlies bound too at the start of the season.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Well Pezzetta is going to be able to actually play. Don't love him, and hope he's more slotted into a 13th forward role, but he's still better than Reaves. If anything this basically confirms Reaves won't be on the roster I feel like.

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

We don't know what the official trade looks like still. If the Leafs end up buying some draft picks and/or prospects by doing that it could be interesting. It's just money.
