He was looking for the backdoor tap in. I also completely forgot we had Martin Jones.

    Reaves traded to San Jose

Thrun will reunite with Matt Benning and probably take one some of the harder minutes for the Marlies. There’s a big stack of actual NHLers, potentials, and projects down there waiting for the inevitable break down in the Leafs aging d corps. Barring a trade, it’d make sense to give Danford a...

    2025-26 General Trades & Signings

Would’ve been interesting if the Leafs got one or both. Howard told the Lightning he would not sign with them, which he subsequently did with Edmonton

    2025-26 Marlies Thread

Gunnarwolfe Fontaine at long last! True nerds will recall him from the 2019 Dev Camp list of invites. Very Dubas-y. Reese Johnson was on an NHL deal last season (MIN trade for Future Considerations) and DNQ’d.

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

Whoa whoa whoa, he played like crap after holding out, but it wasn’t because he was out of shape; he was behind on game speed and also a bit slower on his skates because he got too jacked from only working out without the calorie burn of playing games (per Auston Matthews)

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Which begs the question: what are they saving space for? And if it’s holding up a potential RH C/W with scoring and speed, what higher priority could that be? Or is it just trying to maximize the return on the cast offs?

Final 32 Thoughts Podcast of the season Leafs-related: (copy/paste from iOS transcription, with spelling edits by me, or summary) “I think [the Marner stuff] just became too much of a distraction. I had a player tell me this week that it was just that when the trade deadline was done and they...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

We have too many of these for one lineup: little crafty lefty with a big weakness of being near non-factors without the puck Domi: centre-capable, nasty sauce, stupid brain, only useful after April Robertson: wicked shot, tunnel vision, falls a lot Maccelli: nasty sauce, perimetery tendencies...

Stolarz aside, I kind of prefer Treliving’s trade history to his UFA signing history. It’s a pretty terrible UFA crop to be involved in.

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

These were projections based on back of the napkin (err hockey-reference) averages from the last three seasons. Matthews without Marner will be different, granted. Historically (relatively small sample), it hasn't been a problem for Matthews to score while Marner was out or on a different line.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I think they need more F1s more than anything else south of an expense two-way centre. The skilled scorers can't be effective without the puck, and if the plan is to get pucks deep, force turnovers, and let the skill have better looks through the mess, then I'd like to have more puck getters and...
