Leafs Front Office 2026-27 | Speculation, Discussion

Sportsnet (i.e. Rogers) basically manufacturing consent at this point Pelley reportedly spoke to internal staff and external parties prior to the Treliving firing to assess what was happening (since he clearly wasn't paying attention until like January); at least one of them was John Chayka in...

Leafs Front Office 2026-27 | Speculation, Discussion

The prevailing theory is that the HOHO has basically been selected already (on paper, not publicized) and has been taking an active role in the ongoing recruitment/selection through the search firm, which would be an efficient use of a process already in motion. Once they lock in on the various...

He won the Calder Cup in his first year as head coach with Abbottsford; never mind that they missed the playoffs this year as the Canucks imploded and pulled every non-injured player up.

Friedman said this week is in-person follow-ups for the interviews (so rd 3?) where I'm sure they're getting the tour of the facilities and getting implicitly assessed by office staff (who was nice to the office admins and sanitation crew?). Gillis has already met with the Leafs at least 3 times.

Yeah, that's the sketch of it. Sundin would be like Spezza/Doan, and I'm guessing they're just using the existing search process to figure out the GM position.

Seravelli is hinting that the decision is probably landing by the end of this week (NHL has often asked teams to hold off on certain announcements during league events; i.e. playoffs kicking off), ahead of the original estimated timeframe of mid/end of May. Some non-mainstream people are...

Per Friedman, a lot of AGMs operate in silos and aren’t able to gain the requisite experience for the full GM role. Every team/org does things a bit differently and executive development is not always a given. Pridham has interviewed elsewhere a few seasons now; Dubas offered him a seat in the...

I want to believe, but it’s Simmons P/HOHO: Mike Gillis VPOVibes&Alumni: Mats Sundin GM: some AGM nerd probably And if it’s Gillis, he’ll likely want some semblance of the structure he proposed to the Penguins I assume Pridham, Hardy, and Dr. Wickenheiser are retained as AGMs. Could...

I think EF has the long and short of it. When Treliving was fired, the writing was on the wall for his factions of the office, and thus they have nothing to lose by trying to set the narrative. Similar to Dubas’ exit, and the stories out of Calgary when Treliving left them.
