He always played well enough in the preseason to warrant a spot on the roster too, imo. For some reason, there has been a reluctance to let players from within get a chance and find their way in the NHL. Other Contending teams do it, so the "win now" mantra isn't an excuse.

Exactly this. I never understand when people complain about elite goal scorers who don't hit enough or play better defense..I mean..if they could score that much AND be great defensively AND physically, then they would be a once in a lifetime, generational player. Kessel went through this too...

Absolutely nuts. Raleigh's OPS is about 120 points higher against LHP. And he needlessly burned Dominguez in the 9th inning of an 8-2 game the preceding day. His bullpen usage just makes things so much more difficult :mad:

That being said, hyperbole to the effect of "the team is a joke" is pretty silly, considering the team has consistently made the playoffs and battled the NHL's best team(s) repeatedly. I'm not sure why everything is always 100% one way or the other... Also, I'd argue that "the future is bleak"...
