    Game of Thrones (S8)

Yeah, that was going around the other day and I don't entirely understand the negative reactions to it. Most of it concerns the stuff they did and the approaches they took during the earlier seasons of the show when people were saying it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Now people...

2019-2020 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

A low 5v5 point total absolutely tells us that his line is struggling. I don't see that it tells us anything about why it's struggling.

    Coach Mike Babcock

I'm always amazed by the sheer number of people who will attribute what's going wrong with a professional hockey team to either an easily identifiable and fixable tactical problem or a conscious decision on the part of players to play poorly. Seriously. Millions and millions of dollars are at...

2019-2020 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

That they've gotten off to a bad start. Whether it's a temporary thing or indicative of a larger problem remains to be seen but teams usually play up to or down to their talent level. I also know that in my however many years of being a Leafs fan every single time the team has been slumping...

2019-2020 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Really? The things you say over and over and over and over and over no matter what happens on the ice are things you think are true? Well, my goodness, that is a gamechanger.

2019-2020 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Last year, the theme coming out of the off-season was that the Leafs had just signed one of the biggest UFA deals of all time. This year, the Leafs didn't do that and had an off-season dominated by supposed Leafs fans running down and taking whatever opportunity they could to call the team's...

https://twitter.com/APStylebook/status/1186716384404955136 I've never been more outraged by something in my entire life.

    Federal Election 2019

Well, I suppose to some extent that depends on where you'd define the centre. If the Liberals are the centre are the Bloc to the left of them? On some things, I suppose. But maybe I'm overemphasizing its importance but their bill 21 seems pretty antithetical to modern progressivism. Especially...

    Federal Election 2019

The three parties I mentioned are 50-55%. Getting up to 60% depends on counting the Bloc as a "Left-Leaning" party which is a stretch even when they're not actively talking about sovereignty.

    Federal Election 2019

I agree that it's hard to look at what happened last night and really see a clear path to a Conservative majority(or even government) absent the NDP doing much better. But I guess my point was more wondering if the issue with the Conservatives in Ontario is with Ford specifically and him being...

    Federal Election 2019

One thing I really don't get though is why there's all this focus on the Leaders when it really seems to me like was an election about policy. Admittedly, at a point where the Conservatives probably wanted to distance themselves from Trump/Ford-esque conservatism being led by a guy with an...

    Federal Election 2019

I think it's less about it being a minority government and more about the regional divisions. The re-emergence of the Bloc and the Conservatives dominating in certain provinces to an extent like this is going to make governing difficult. That said, I think what we saw last night is a pretty...

    Federal Election 2019

Unfortunately a coalition doesn't make a lot of sense right now. The Liberals won enough seats that they can just form a government and negotiate with multiple parties to pass legislation as it's needed. Want a new pipeline? Ask the Tories for support. Better stuff for Quebec? Bribe the Bloc...

    Federal Election 2019

The NDP started out as a Prairie/Farmer's party and they do have a pretty good rural/agrarian support as well as good support among indigenous voters.

    Federal Election 2019

Well, one nice thing to say about the Conservatives tonight is their candidate beat Maxime Bernier.

    Federal Election 2019

It is going to be very frustrating as a NDP voter to see a party that gets 1/3rd of their votes have more MPs and 30+ more than the Greens who also outpoll them. Maybe this result can kick Trudeau into real election reform.
