2011 NFL thread

ESPN is reporting that Raiders owner Al Davis has passed away at the age of 82. Always the maverick he was a key part of the AFL/NFL merger.

My picks this year in my football pool have been pathetic.

I'm over .500 vs. the spread to date this year but not much better.

Historically I've done pretty well. Including being 2nd out of 250,000 people on ESPN's site. You need to average about 11-12 correct picks a week for that. This year I've been averaging 6.

Wow, that's impressive! Through 6 weeks, I've had like 4 weeks of slightly above .500, 1 really good week and 1 week I don't care to discuss.  >:(

62-7 now New Orleans over Indy... and it ain't over yet. Brutal.
The 62 point margin was the highest of any team since the AFC merged with the
NFC back in 1970.

Saints' quarterback Drew Brees had quite a game, throwing for over 325 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Now, for those poor, hapless (helpless is more like it!) Colts....

As a fan of a team led by Tony Romo, one has to focus on the positives to maintain sanity so here's one I'd like to share;

DeMarcus Ware is on pace for 21 sacks. He could become the first defender since sacks became an official stat in 1982 to record two 20-sack seasons in his career. Ware posted 20 sacks in 2008.

AnyBody watch tonight's Monday night game between KC and San Diego? San Diego had the game won but found a way to lose. Unbelievable.

Buffalo Bills are a perfect 4-0 at home (5 and 2 overall) this season.  Their latest victory coming over the Washngton Redskins in Toronto.

What a strange week of games this week.
Indianapolis has a chance for a "win" against Jacksonville.
Then they would be 1-8.

Kansas City what a wacko team that is playing Denver another ? team.
Miami could get another win against Washington.

Battle of the last place teams.

As a big fan of a division rival, I'm absolutely thrilled but at the same time, totally shocked by Philly's collapse. Man, I really thought they put together a dangerous team on paper. Part of the beauty of all sports, I suppose. "Paper" is all well and good but the games still need to be played.

Tim Tebow is a joke.

That is all.

He can't throw.

But, all he does is keep leading the Broncos to victories (except for the embarrassment vs. Detroit).

Not saying it's going to last forever, but the team has already surpassed its win total from last season, and could have a share of the division lead by the end of the weekend, when they have absolutely no business being there.

And as a Denver fan, I'm loving it.  :)

Grrr really not pleased with the Bills this week.
These guys should be wearing bags on their heads instead of helmets.

Just pathetic. Their losing to the Fish?
This is gonna kill my picks.... :'(
