Canada: John Tavares
Sweden: William Nylander
Russia: Nikita Zaitsev
Slovakia: Martin Marincin

CJ reported that Nylander will be initially lined up with Elias Pettersson and Patric Hornqvist.
John Tavares is reported (by Dreger) to have just left practice with an upper body injury.
Zaitsev appears to be once again the only right shot D-man on the team.

Well that was fun while it lasted.

Reported Tavares with an injury at practise today and is heading back home to Toronto.

This looks very familiar.

This looks recently rare.

Nylander is currently tied for the tournament lead in points after the first period of today?s game (6).

Granted, these last two games were against Italy and Norway.

But he never goes to the net:

Elias Pettersson was bumped off the top line and Alex Wennberg is reaping the benefits of playing with Nylander.
He's not a centre and doesn't win puck battles:

And he just took the lead assisting on another Wennberg goal. What a soft perimeter player.

Alex Wennberg had two goals in 75 games this past season, btw. He tied that amount in 40 minutes with Nylander.

I wondered about a potential Wennberg for Zaitsev swap as they have similar bad contracts but they've got Jones and Savard as RD's there so probably unlikely.

Would be a more defensive 3C Kadri replacement option.

Nylander ends the game with 5 points, player of the game honours, and has 8 pts on the tournament after 3 games.

No look shot-pass for the redirect

Game 1: 1 pt
Game 2: 1+1 = 2 pts
Game 3: 1+2+2 = 5 pts
Game 4: should be 1+2+5+5 pts so anything less than 13 pts against Austria will be such a huge disappointment.

I love how he uses the gravitational pull of the official to sling-shot around.
