Scored a pair last night to give him 19 so far this season in 23 games.

A bit of a fluke, or is he this good now!

A little bit of both. I mean, he's not 60+ goal pace good, but, in the right situation, he's probably a 25+ goal, 60+ point guy that plays a very good two-way game. I think injuries and the style of play in St Louis have suppressed his offensive totals a little (at least, before this season, they did). I'd love to see the Leafs bring him back this summer.

Yeah, watching the replays each night - he's scoring goal-scorer type goals, not garbage stuff around the net.

Another one the management gave up on. I remember when he was drafted, posters suggesting he'd make a good captain one day down the road. But, whats done is done.

He didn't work as Sundin's winger and he wasn't a face-puncher.

Fletcher traded him.

And Burke seemed pretty comfortable only having one lumbering oaf of a face puncher on the roster on a full time basis.

Although Burke did bring in he of the double face punching 4th line, so he gets at least some credit for the mess right now.

Nonis brought in McLaren and chose to re-sign Orr - and, if he didn't re-sign Orr, you can be sure he would have signed an Orr equivalent.

Wow. I just realized Steen is the #1 guy on the #1 team in the NHL right now.

I never would have guessed. Good for him. Obviously bad for us.

Was a bad trade by Fletcher, but that's ancient history now.  We have a Kadri to take away the sting of not having a Steen.  Naz is only 6 points behind Steen and is younger.

Or the Leafs could have had both of them.

Sure but the trade was over 5 years ago, if you go back that far there's a ton of players we could have had or kept.

Steen is such a beast. Even before the spike in goal scoring, he was already a very good player.

While I have no doubt he would have been a valuable player for the Leafs had he stayed in the organization, the Blues really brought out the best in him.
