Hagelin was previously acquired this offseason for Emerson Etem and a 2nd round pick.
Perron was previously acquired last seasons for a 1st round pick and Rob Klinkhammer.

Hagelin - 43GP 4G 8A 12P
Perron - 43GP 4G 12A 16P

Adam Clendenning is a 2011 2nd round draft pick who has played in 30NHL games with 5 points.  His best AHL season was in 2013-2014 where he put up 59 points in 74GP.

I guess it's Pittsburgh getting rid of someone soon to be UFA and one disappointing who will be RFA for Hagelin who is signed until he is 30.

I had a feeling that some teams might start trading pieces earlier given the log jam to make the playoffs.

Anaheim may just flip Perron again at the deadline?

I like this trade for Pittsburgh. Perron never quite seemed to fit in their top-6, Hagelin could be a better match. Moving out a defenceman doesn't seem to be in their best interests but they weren't playing Clendenning much anyway even though his numbers were alright.

I don't get this at all. Admittedly Pittsburgh's scoring is down from where you'd think it would be but to lock yourself in to another high priced, underperforming forward? Perron could have been deadline shopped and his salary gone to a defenseman in the offseason.
