If the dramatic game seven loss does anything for the Leafs, it will surely burn a memory into their minds that will drive this team to redemption next season.

All is not lost, as nobody thought this team was good enough to even compete with the likes of the Bruins, let alone take them to seven, and nearly pull off a miracle win.

It was a horrible, horrible way to go down, one that a more experienced team could have avoided, but one that can and will be used as a catalyst for this team as it grows and matures. Hard to reset the memory button on last night, but pride will start to set in in a day or two, and the focus will shift to what they accomplished this seaon and not about the game seven collapse.

I for one was, and still am, excited about the future of this team, and think they will bring us success down the not too distant road. This is not a veteran team that has one or two more shots at the big prize. This is a young promising team that overachieved this post season, and learned a thing or two about about what it takes to play this game when the chips are down.

We all need to look past this defeat and get behind this team for next season, when much more will be expected!

GLG!

Sure. Because when has a Leafs team ever progressed in any way other than the one we'd all like them to?

Time heals all wounds, hopefully Leafs can have a moment in the near future like Boston did after blowing their 3-0 playoff series lead in 2010.

Another positive, as an unrestricted free agent, the thought about playing for the Leafs starts sounding very appealing.

Agreed. Toronto is going to be a desired location to play NHL hockey once again because of what's transpired this year. A team on the upswing and a city thats ready to explode with excitement. I'm pretty sure there are some Ontario boys out there that would kill to come home and get a shot at the fame and fortune this market would bestow upon them should they help this team finally win the cup.

You too can be memorialized in the highlight reels of record-setting meltdowns! ::)

Seriously. I don't even know what that means.

People will still be playing clips from your career in 100 years. Whenever someone does a compilation of the most epic collapses, you'll be there!

The best part about being a Leafs fan over the last 10 years or so, is it has given us a real Zen outlook on hockey. I feel like we all expect the worst because suffering is life, especially as a Leafs fan.

Not to center out pj, but I think it means there will be plenty-o-people that use this collapse in their arguments to justify their belief that this team is inevitably destined for failure. The fact is the strides and setbacks they have taken this season are ones that happen to every team getting their first taste of success. As in life, you take your lumps, learn your lessons, and come out the wiser because of it.

Why does it seem the Leafs have to take the hardest lumps though?  Had they lost this series in game 5 or 6 or even game 7 without an epic 3 goal blown lead, I think people would be more accepting of it.  To lose like that though, totally ridiculous.  It wasn't even blowing a 3 goal lead early like the Bruins did in 2010, it was a 3 goal lead with under 11 minutes to play.  It takes a new level of choke to accomplish that.

No, my post was agreeing with his. The idea that the Leafs are now a very attractive team to play for...that I don't get.

I agree that it was an epic collapse. There's no way to candy coat it. Like you said though, had it happened in game 4 or 5 when expectations were low, who would have been this shocked? As I said earlier, this is as good of a catalyst there is to use to fire this team up for next season and beyond.

Despite the ugly finish to their season last night, I'm really proud of this team. Way more positives then negatives to build from. We just need some time to digest the loss.

Expecting the worst is a terrible thing but unfortunately I do when it comes to Toronto sports as a whole. I have a hard time seeing the glass as half full, I see it as half empty. The feeling I had last night watching the collapse was all to familiar. I continue to be a diehard, grumpy, pessimistic Leaf fan. I wouldn't even whisper the word playoff until they locked it up because I was expecting an epic fall. Then, I wouldn't whisper round 2 even with a 4-1 lead because I was waiting for the tire's to fall off and they did.

Yes, making the playoffs is better then not but... WOW... what a gut wrenching way to go down. I still feel like I'm in haze due to last nights loss... I got this bewildered feeling and can't shake it. I literally feel it in my eyes and cheeks.

Always remember, this stuff doesn't just happen to the Leafs.  Boston was up 3-0 on Philly in the series, Philly forced a game 7, and Boston led 3-0 in that game too before losing.  They won the Cup the next season.

Can only move forward from this.

That's a nice little reminder of the kind of adversary teams can face in the playoffs (and the right way to respond to it). As much as it hurts right now, this team can just as easily erase last night from our minds next season with a long playoff run.....

Mark it down. Potvin predicts Leafs cup win next year.

remember the Argos won the Grey Cup this past season with just a few changes....so we are not a losing city...How many teams in baseball have won two World Series or even one World Series in the last 20 Years???  We are on the right track and cannot blame Reimer for the shellshocking...we in fact do have a very good goalie going forward
