Anyone using this "flat bottom V" skate cut?

Not sure how many lace em up in an attempt to relive failed dreams of glory (or at least burn off enough to have a beer after), but a guy was raving about this after our skate. Never heard of it. Any opinions? If it's that good, I'd assume all the pros are using it..?

So down here in San Jose, I was using this cut for many years.  I liked it alot, but found out that it will wear out a bit faster because the edges are sharper and not as thick.  I have since switched back to 5/16 (yes that sharp) so I can keep my edge.  If you don't mind sharpening a bit more, what it will give is more effortless glide and still maintain the edge.  Basically, the traditional cut would either be more speed/effortless skating versus grip.  This was suppose to give you the best of both worlds.

I hated it tbh. I found the edge got caught on the ice a lot wherever I tried to play the puck with my feet or make sharp turns. I haven't spent that much time on my ass since I was learning to skate.

I'm not good enough of a skater to probably even notice, but nonetheless it was an informative article!  :P

It doesn't hurt to try it for a couple of skates.  First time I tried it, I loved it.  Then as time went on, you continue learning how to skate and what you like and I just kinda went back to the traditional cut.

Well, I found a place that does it (turns out a lot of places do it), so they put it on. I usually skate at 5/8ths, so I told them to do whatever is equivalent to that.

So I figure either be back getting it taken off within a week, or be a walk on at the leafs rookie camp. I shall report back with my unscientific findings.

I would just leave it on until the next sharpening.  You may not noticed it at first that its much different than the traditional cut but you should notice the extra glide (slightly).  But it all depends on your skill level.

My daughter and 8 yr old son both use this sharpening. My daughter has been using it for several years now and doesn't like her skates any other way. The little guy started with this sharpening but it really helps with his edge control and his speed.

Well, gave it about 7 games, and went back to the "regular" 5/8ths. I could definitely feel a bit more glide, but felt unstable at times, even after a re-sharpen, and that offset any performance advantage for me in transition type moves. Maybe it's a better bet for kids that get used to it early.
