Game Notes

COL
?Grubauer (9-5-2, 2.86 GAA, .911 Sv%) will likely start for the Avalanche
?Colorado has successfully weathered a pretty tough injury storm early in the season. They missed Rantanen for 16 games and Landeskog has been out for 15. Rantanen returned on the weekend and scored 4 points in just over 10 minutes of play before being removed from the game for precautionary reasons. He's considered good to go for this game though
?MacKinnon is unsurprisingly leading the way with 42 points in 26 games. That puts him 5th in the league in points. He was recently named the NHL's 2nd star of the month for November with a ridiculous 25 points in 14 games
?Cale Makar leads all rookies in points this season with 26 in 26 games. Friendly reminder that he's a defenceman
?Kadri will play his first NHL game in Toronto as a member of the opposing team. The former Leaf is 5th on Colorado in scoring with 20 points in 26 games. So far he seems to be fitting in very nicely with his new team
?Rosen has found his way into the NHL after recording 8 points in 13 games for Colorado's AHL team. Don't read too much into his "top pairing" status on the lines though, he's averaged just 15:23 in the 3 games he's played since the call-up

TOR
?Hutchinson (0-5-1, 4.55 GAA, .876 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?The Leafs will look to rebound after an embarrassing loss, particularly in the final few minutes fo the game, to the Flyers on Tuesday. They'll have to do that playing in front of Hutchinson though, who of course is still looking for his first win of the season
?The potential return of Mitch Marner could provide the boost the team needs to make that happen. He's eligible to be taken off LTIR but is still questionable at this point. His status will likely be confirmed in the morning

Injuries

?Andre Burakovsky - Upper Body - Day to day
?Matt Calvert - Head - Day to day
?Gabriel Landeskog - Leg - Day to day
?Erik Johnson - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Colin Wilson - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Trevor Moore - Shoulder - Injured Reserve
?Mitch Marner - Ankle - Questionable Wednesday

It will be interesting to see how they respond after that 3rd period last night. Can they put in a full game effort?

Really though, we've been saying this all year.  I think we're still waiting for a consistent 60-minute games, even now at game #30.

They're officially out of a playoff spot today.

I sure hope Marner comes back full of piss and vinegar.

Naz expands a little more on his thoughts about Babcock. Not exactly the same as his "glowing statement" he gave earlier.

He repeated what he said before: he's a good coach.  These are some pretty nuanced and insightful remarks if you ask me.

Marner?s back

All three of our listed scratches are loaned or claimed. I?m guessing Spezza is sitting tonight for his load management.

Glad to see Marchment is back with the Marlies as well. He's been out since training camp.
I'd sit Goat and let Spezza go with the kids.

Let's hope for a better 60 minutes from the entire $40 million dollar club with a little leeway for Mitch.
Also time for Matthews to put up or shut up. His post game comments are getting as nauseating as having to listen to Babcock make excuses after every loss.
Earn your pay plain and simple.

No leeway for anyone. This is as close as we've been to a full lineup this year. One line, either JT's or Matthews' should have a favourable matchup.
