DarrenDreger: Wow. Flames announce Bouwmeester to St Louis for a 1st and two prospects...#tradecentre

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Flames get St. Louis? 2013 first round pick, defenseman Mark Cundari and goaltender Reto Berra

mirtle: Flames get 2013 first rounder, Mark Cundari and Reto Berra for Bouwmeester. If Blues don't make playoffs, first rounder deferred to 2014.

Cundari seems like an okay, but kind of run of the mill defensive prospect. Berra's an older goalie prospect that likely doesn't get more than a cup of coffee at the NHL level.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Flames also say if Blues miss the playoffs, that 1st round pick in 2013 becomes 4th-rounder this year and a 1st rd in 2014

Blues just lost Halak to injury, that might be all she wrote for their season JayBo or not.

Pietrangelo-JayBo
Shattenkirk-Leopold

Pretty good looking top four.

Not a horrible trade for either team I guess.    St. Louis pretty much guaranteed it wasn't a lottery pick.

Mark Cundari isn't a great defensive prospect and is pretty far down the Blues depth chart.  Reto Berra is a Swiss goaltender drafted in 2006 who looks like a nothing player too.

The Flames at least got a 1st round pick out of the deal.

Oh and lol@the talking heads trying to have a deadline show, the whole day will be analyzing deals that already happened.

For the record I'd probably rather had JayBo than Kipper, but not for a 1st.

The biggest asset the Flames get here is the cap space next season from moving Bouwmeester's contract.

Without Kipper too should that happen, any concerns over them and the cap floor?

I'd imagine Feaster will go out and throw a max contract at a Ville Leino type UFA though.

Unlikely. Even if they move Kipper without retaining any salary, they'll have about $35M committed to 11 players next season. Won't take much to put them over the floor from there.

If they move out a couple of their other larger contracts, though, things could get interesting.

Thanks for the numbers Busta.

Expect to hear more about the JayBo curse if St Louis miss the playoffs given he has never played in the playoffs, what they probably won't mention is that they have had the worst luck with goalies and injuries this year.

this seems like a very good trade for St Louis if indeed both prospects are rather "meh".  I'm surprised they gave up so little.

What would people have thought if Toronto had made a similar trade.  eg: 1st + Rynnas + Gysbers  (if that's about the same ...)

I would have to do capgeek check under the assumption Liles and Komisarek are bought out/traded to see whether we could fit Bouwmeester under next year's cap.  If we could, it would have tempted me.

Phaneuf -- Gunner
Bouwmeester -- Franson
Gardiner -- Kostka
Fraser

Seems like an improvement on D.

I swear that Feaster is one of the few that could give Sather and MIllbury a run for the money when it comes to making braindead trades. Iggy and Jbo and not a single roster player back and one of the picks is conditional along with the bottom of the bottom of prospects from Pitts and STL.

Jesus I'm glad he is nowhere near our organization.

I really think that Kipper will want out now and so will Cammi.

Sather doesn't belong in that group. His trades are usually excellent. It's his free agent signings that are nuts.

Poor Cammelleri (sp?), gets shipped out to Calgary for calling out team coaches in Montreal last season. This season, Montreal is winning like crazy.
