Game Notes
MIN
-Jeremy Swayman (4-4-1, 3.58 GAA, .895 Sv%) will start for the Bruins
-Beating the Leafs 1.5 weeks ago hasn't exactly fixed Boston's seasons. They've gone 2-2 since then while being outscored 7-10
-David Pastrnak made headlines in Boston's last game, but not for the right reasons. The Bruins star winger was benched for the entire 3rd period against Seattle on Sunday due to poor play and specifically a poor turnover late in the 2nd
-Former Tampa Bay and Chicago centre Tyler Johnson signed a NHL deal with Boston on Monday after taking part in their training camp as a PTO and being around the team throughout October. It's unknown if he'll jump into their line-up immediately
TOR
-Anthony Stolarz (4-2-2, 2.38 GAA, .919 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
-Toronto's rotation for the final forward spot between Robertson, Holmberg, and Reaves will likely continue and I'm guessing Holmberg gets back into the line-up but that will be confirmed at the morning skate

Bruins OWN the Leafs (just like the Leafs own the Jets). Bruins will get up for this game, yet it's hard to say which Leaf team will show up.

If the Leafs show up..... it will be a fun game to watch. Particularly the friendly compete between the 88s. Pasta just got benched by Montgomery and had his teeth busted by a Nyander high stick last game. Nylander is near the top of the league in goals.

Not sure why he was trying to play through it this early on.

Pacioretty-Tavares-Nylander
Knies-Domi-Marner
McMann-Holmberg-Robertson
Lorentz-Kampf-Reaves

is my expected lineup of least disruption; but maybe flip Nylander and Marner if Berube plans to use Tavares as a shutdown option.

Option 2 has more changes but some return to previous line combinations and spreads the offense a bit more (even though McMann does not deserve it right now).

AM34 hurt! Oh no!! Sometimes it brings the best out of our fringe guys when the core goes down. Find that inner Alyn McCauley and Go Leafs Go!

Why can't they ever upgrade Kampf? Every time he plays internationally he gets an opportunity to play up the lineup and does well.

He's on the trade block and I suspect they have a deal lined up for when Dewar is activated.

This team is not deep...
I'm not saying they're the deepest team in the league but most line-ups wouldn't look great when you take out their top forward, especially when it's a guy as high caliber as Matthews. The team is also missing a potential 3rd line forward (Jarnkrok), a potential 4th line forward (Dewar), and the likely first call-up option for an additional centre (Minten). That's going to chip away at any teams depth.

With that said this line-up even when healthy definitely needs a legitimate 3C at some point.

Well, I read all the time we need a 3C and we won't even look at what we have (Kampf and Nylander). Holmberg is not the answer.

If they don't see Kampf off of the 4th line, 100% trade him, too much salary and asked to do very little.

I guess Nylander is not even a consideration at C anymore.

Dewar? Who cares? I guess we care about his cap hit versus Kampf's.

Yea, I'd be somewhat interested to see what Kampf can do given a different role (and linemates, for that matter). He does seem to flash a bit of skill and finesse here and there and his defensive acumen can certainly support players like a Domi or Nylander. Kampf on the 4th line (and having less of a role on the PK this year, too boot) really is a waste of 2.4M

I've always liked the idea of having a strong defensive forward on each line. I'd find this really interesting:
Knies Matthews Domi
McMann Tavares Marner
Pacioretty Kampf Nylander
Lorentz Dewar/Holmberg Robertson

Nylander can take an extra shift here and there for Domi w/ Matthews, and you can add PP time, PK etc to give everyone a healthy amount of ice time. If Nylander can carry a team playing with Kerfoot and Galchenyuk, I think he could make this work too.

If Max’s last name was anything other than Domi, I feel like he’d be the ire of most leafs fans. I really don’t understand how he gets a pass and someone like Kerfoot was hated. I’d honestly trade Domi straight up for Kerfoot at this point.

Ya I like those lines except for Reeves. I have a feeling Greybonkin will be with us by January.
Domi has to go back on Matthews wing, that is non negotiable. Kampf try as 3rd C and Dewer can go for 4th C. Or switch out as an experiment.
