Man those are some eye-popping numbers!

Yet ...

Imagine Murray or Samsonov were putting those up for us.  We'd all still be worried that "He's peaking too soon" or "He'll never be able to do that in the playoffs" so we wouldn't be enjoying his Vezina season.  Therefore I prefer the most modest, yet respectable, attainments of our duo.

(I can rationalize with the best of them.)

Holmberg and McMann didn't practice but Matthews did.

What I greatly dislike is Simmonds on the 4th line again.  STOP.    I get he might be just sitting in a placeholder spot but every game he has done something negative and I'm not seeing anything that justifies him getting any games at this point.  He's not an intimidating presence.  He's not good defensively and his offensive game is gone.  I get having him around the team as the extra skater but we really need to find a way to use that 12th skater more effectively with players developing instead of a guy way past his prime

If Holmberg and McCann aren't at practice at all it's probably fair to assume they just aren't healthy. I know there was a bug going around the team apparently.

3 games in 4 nights against the best team in the league. Not looking forward to this game

Why not? It's a game in the middle of January and in the grand scheme of things, means very little. Up until Seattle did it, the Leafs were the only team that beat Ullmark in regulation. Time to give him another loss. Win or lose, enjoy the ride!

This! These are fun games to benchmark the team against, win or lose. Playing teams like Detroit or Philly doesn't really help with assessments.

I'm also a bruins fan as well as the leafs, so there's zero downside in the result on my couch. :)

I hate watching the Leafs lose. I'm bad that way
