Buy & sell

Background:  Most of you know I'm in and out of hospital for major depression and suicidal thoughts.  Needless to say, I can't hold a steady job. I have a small pension, but feel lousy that I don't contribute more to our family income.

So:  I've had several people suggest buying and selling stuff on Kijiji.  Scour the ads and buy something really cheap, clean it up and resell for profit.  Not sure how well it would work - I think I'd need a niche that I really get to know the prices on (ie baby cribs and strollers, etc)

Any thoughts?  Suggestions?

If you're good at that kind of stuff, there are probably some gems to be found on sites like kijiji, craigslist or freecycle.org. I'm not sure it would necessarily be a sustainable source of income or anything, but, it could definitely be enough to keep you busy and help you feel better about yourself. And, I mean, there's always the chance that you stumble upon a situation where someone doesn't know what they have or something that someone on eBay might pay a ton for.

You hit the nail on the head.  I don't have to make much money.  It's more about being busy, making a little coin here and there, and feeling like I'm a contributing father and husband.

There may be an opportunity with musical instruments and the like.  You'd have to research and understand the market, of course, but I think there could be a decent margin to be had.

Good luck.

Yeah, that's what I figured. There's definitely enough out there for you to find projects to keep you busy - and, if you enjoy restoring things, then all the better.

I've had four kids.  Couldn't give the baby strollers, cribs, etc away.  Start a puppy mill and sell em on kijiji.

You could always leverage whatever you're good at. Maybe you could open up a personal shop on Etsy for whatever it is you're thinking of crafting or making. My sister sells jewelry on there and makes some extra cash on the side.
