Change up the Lines

So clearly the first two lines for the leafs are not producing at all.... how about changing it up a bit...and playing the kadri and frattin more ice time.... kulemin does not seem to be able to produce for a second line....

Grabovski - Bozak - Kessel
Van Reimsdyk - Kadri - Frattin
Komarov - McClement - Kulemin
Macarthur - Steckel - Orr

this way the third line is more of a shut down line and the line that is the only players that are producing at this point is the one that is getting the second line ice time...also having grabo with kessel might help him out of his slump...

Once lupul is back could always put grabo centre then move bozak to third line, McClement fourth,  with steckel once again being a healthy scratch... having trouble finding where macarthur would fit in so put him on the fourth line but maybe he would be the guy to find a trade opportunity with seeing as he is a twenty goal scorer and I do not feel there is a place for him with the leafs

And holzer looks lost out there a lot... maybe he just needs more time to transition to the nhl...

see and I think that the first two lines have LOOKED pretty good but the lack of production is frustrating.

I would move JVR to the second line, put Kessel with our 2 highest scoring and creative players and voila!

JVR Grabovski Kulemin
Frattin Kadri Kessel
Macarthur Bozak Komarov
Steckel Mcclement Orr/Frazer

I think there is legitimate reason for concern with Kadri's face-off percentage, but I think you need to try something other than Bozak on Kessel's line.  Kadri has the speed and the skill to handle Kessel's play.

I still believe the Leafs must do something with their 4th line. To have three guys unable to play hockey on the roster just for having them play 3 to 4 minutes per game is beyond my understanding. The Leafs play every second night but roll basically only 9 forwards. That?s absurd. The workload IMHO should be spread more evenly (btw the same applies for defense). Get rid of Orr and MacLaren and give a chance to some someone who can play 7 to 9 minutes per game.

The  goon line is patetic, play Steckel with Brown and Orr or Mclaren for now. At least is 2/3 of a line, too bad Brown is injured.

I agree, but you should know that the 4th line wasn't unintentionally constructed.

It's a psychological boost to the rest of the Leafs' undersized roster to have two of the biggest bullies on the ice both on their side.

How effective it actually is, is up for debate though.

mostly every team is going to be rolling three lines every game.... not many teams are using four lines even with this shortened season... those guys are meant to go onto the ice and give the team a boost through a hit or a fight... i would like to see them get more ice time since its not that they can't play 7-9 minutes a games, it's just the coaching style does not allow this... certain coaches do roll four lines evenly but Carlyle is more for the match game that leaves the fourth line not playing but i'm sure they would be able to play the 7-9 minutes if given the chance

With MacArthur and Komarov due back anytime now, and the so-called #1 Bozak line and the #3 Grabo line not performing that well, what new configuration should be tried to get guys like JVR and Frattin going like they were earlier?

Maybe those two simply take a seat in the press box for a game or two?

Is there room for everybody? I'd guess that JVR might get a game or 2 in the pressbox (though I'm not sure I'd go that route) and that Frattin will head back to the Marlies to find his timing/touch again.

It's actually kind of amazing how many offensive threats this team has when those players are on. Kadri/Lupul/Kessel are consistent threats, while JVR/Frattin/Mac blow hot and cold but seem to have another gear when the going is good. Kuli and Grabbo ain't shabby either though they're not what they once were.

What are we 3rd or 4th in the league in GF? Nice to see.

I think Frattin would have to clear waivers.

I think Frattin may still be trying to get over the knee thing. Not the it isn't fixed, but he may be playing a bit tentative with it. He just doesn't click with Grabo from what I can see.

Kessel isn't producing? 14 pts in his last 11 games.

I like his season, I mean we all know the guy can score, the fact that he can play at a near ppg pace despite the constant critique he is getting this season, due to the slow start is promising.  If this is a Kessel bad season, I gladly take it.
