Game Notes

ARI
?Antti Raanta (3-5-2, 3.12 GAA, .907 Sv%) will likely start for the Coyotes
?Arizona is bad.
?Dylan Strome might not be though. The 20-year old is currently torching the AHL with 18 points in 12 games

TOR
?Andersen (12-6-0, 2.87 GAA, .914 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Despite winning in Montreal with some new-look lines Babcock said after the game that he would likely revert back to how he started the game. That means on MMM line
?A few Leafs are running hot right now: Kadri has 7 points in his last 6 games, Marner has 6 points in his last 5 games, Rielly has 6 points in his last 6 games, and JVR has 5 points in his last 4 games

Thanks, Carlton, for your hard work in putting these together!

- London Knights reunion! Max Domi and Christian Dvorak will likely line up against Marner's line. The camera will pan to Tie Domi, who will certainly be in attendance, on a regular basis.

- Also a mini-reunion for Matthews and Clayton Keller, buds from the USNTDP and big fans of each other.

- Another homecoming (of sorts) for Luke Schenn, who, to his credit (and probably is parents' for gifting him with a right-handed shot), is still in the league and playing against the team that drafted him. Look for JvR to turnstile him once again. Watch out though, as Schenn does have 1 G and 1 A in 11 games against us, but is currently riding a 17 game point-less streak and would probably love to break the slump against the team that gave up on him.

Lines went into the meat grinder mid game against Montreal:

Martin-Matthews-Marner
Komarov-Kadri-Nylander
Hyman-Marleau-Brown
JVR-Bozak-Moore

Would love to see more Marner-Matthews. It almost makes to much sense putting our best passer with our best shooter. We have the depth to do it considering Marner's been a 4th liner at times this year.

I will be there tonight! PHX has won two in a row against OTT and MTL so maybe we shouldn't take them so lightly... or maybe OTT and MTL just really suck too.

Like Carlton said during the Montreal GDT, these lines do give a good balance of scoring and shutdown lines with scoring potential on all 4. Gives Babcock strong-side faceoff options on all 4 lines too.

I've been saying since early last season that Marner should play with the left-handed centres where possible, and he showed some early magic with Matthews off a great scrum and bump from Martin. It helps him put his body between the defense and the puck and opens up more reception options for him to exploit.

Long-term though, I don't think it'll be Matthews - Marner unless we're chasing a goal and Nylander isn't working for some reason. Matthews and Marner both have the ability to elevate the play around them, and that's way more valuable in creating ridiculous scoring threats up and down the lineup.

Predictably, Clayton Kellar news is lighting up:

https://theathletic.com/160755/2017/11/20/lebrun-what-do-the-gms-who-passed-on-clayton-keller-think-today/

At No. 4, the Oilers took Puljujarvi, which again at the time seemed like a no-brainer. Which is not to say the Oilers didn?t know a talent like Keller was there.

?For us, he (Keller) was in our discussions, but we had a lot of centres, so made a winger a priority,? Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli said Friday. ?I mean, his talent was indisputable, it was a little position-based for us.?

Bless this man.

I'm taking my 8 year old son to his first Leafs game tonight as a birthday present.  I'm also buying him a Matthews jersey which he doesn't know yet.  :)

It's been a while since I've been downtown TO and I live further away now towards London.  Anyways coming down the QEW to the Gardiner, anyone know the best place to get off and park?

GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two teams on the hottest streaks of their respective seasons!  Which team will continue to roll with wins and which one's streak will end tonight?  Let's hope the boys in blue make it 7!

This has all the makings of a trap game - team on a winning streak, destroyed last opponent on the scoreboard, last place team in the league . . .

I had that feeling about the habs game...

These are two points that would be nice to have in the bank.

Hopefully the Leafs will keep up the strong play of late.

GO LEAFS GO!
