Daley/Scuderi Trade

Captain Canuck

New member
Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defenceman Trevor Daley from the Chicago Blackhawks for defenceman Rob Scuderi. The Penguins will retain one-third of Scuderi's salary as part of the deal.

Pittsburgh's D sucked, definitely a big part of the reason why Johnston got canned. Pens desperately needed a blueliner who could move the puck up ice and score some goals. Daley had 16 goals last season so he should be able to help get things turned around.

From a Blackhawks perspective this deal is all about saving some cap space.

One of the articles that I read on this said that Daley had more goals last season (16) than Scuderi has in his entire career (8).

Rob Scuderi's played 745 games in the NHL, and has just 8 goals to show for it. There isn't a single other player in the history of the NHL with 700+ games played and less than 10 career goals.

Just to show a comparison to a player we know, Tim Gleason has twice as many career goals in about 20 less games. Mike Komisarek scored 14 goals in about 200 less games.
