News of Enroth?s waiving has resurfaced the idea that Karri Ramo could sign with Toronto upon being medically cleared for game action.

Ramo has the NHL experience whilst Bibeau needs more AHL time.

As we just found out with Enroth.  NHL experience doesn't necessarily make you a better NHL tender.

Bibeau beat Sparks of of a starter role and Sparks has limited NHL experience.

How old and developed was Murray when he got the call in Pittsburgh or even Reimer in Toronto?

I haven't seen Bibeau play, but most things I've read say he's pretty average...for the AHL

Hutchinson was pretty average...for the ECHL. ;)

Its all about how you can take advantage of the opportunity when presented.

Good points,  I wouldn't mind seeing Bibeau play a game or two to prove himself. I have a lot more invested in him from a fan viewpont than Ramo, whom I don't know from Nik

I can't pretend to be an expert on ECHL stats or what the average SV% would be but in the ECHL Hutchinson's numbers there were pretty good. The AHL too.

Either way, Hutchinson has not been very good in the NHL so I'm not sure what your point is there.

Well that sucks for Enroth, but its a pretty refreshing change to see management switch gears so quickly when they feel they may have made a poor decision. Admitting mistakes and correcting them in such a timely manner isn't something we've been used to seeing the Leafs do over the years.

This one is weird. I don't see how Enroth played himself out of the backup role in such a limited audition, and he has a better resume than Ramo or any Marlie. And I don't know why the leafs would be so eager to hand out another contract for a new backup.

I think at the end of the day, he's a plug that never ingratiated himself to the team and they had no confidence playing in front of him. He needed to steal at least 1 to stick around.

Yeah, that's the other thing. I appreciate wanting to find that Chad Johnson type who can put up starter-ish numbers in a limited role but I think that typically has more to do with the quality of the team than anything. I don't know how much better the Leafs can reasonably expect to get out of a scrap heap backup at this point.

Bibeau has 2 knees while Ramo basically has 1.

I really don't know where they're going to go after this, but odds are it won't really be much of an improvement (if at all).

Agreed, which makes me wonder if maybe Enroth asked out because he has a better opportunity in Europe.

This would make more sense.

He probably got less playing time than I (and maybe he) was expecting. I have to say in the games he played his stats probably were worse than he performed to an extent. He was by no means stellar either of course.

He also only had 4 games, and if we think what people thought of Andersen after 4 games and what they think now... But of course Andersen was playing more regularly to be able to get into more of a groove.

Enroth cleared waivers.

But I imagine Ramo will get some starts first on the Marlies as I suspected to get back into game shape.

He just signed a PTO with them.
