Erhoff bought out by Buffalo - likely lots of teams will have interest. I assume he and Niskanen will be the big two D FAs... plus Boyle on a shorter term.

Am I missing something? 33 pts for 4M a year doesn't seem that bad, does it?

Was this the last year to buy players out?

Either they're afraid of how he'll play form 35-38 or they're trying to their hardest for McDavid.

Yes.  There were two offseasons that you could do compliance buyouts.  This is likely more about protecting themselves from cap recapture penalties down the road.  That and by the time Buffalo is competitive he's going to be 34-36 and his skill will be diminishing and they might not want him all that much.

Won't buffalo have to spend substantially on FAs to get to the cap floor? Miller, Erhoff, Leino, Ott, - bought out or traded.....
