Jonathan Huberdeau's #FlaPanthers extension includes a NMC starting in 2019-20. It becomes an eight-team NTC for the final year.

So FLA has locked down:
Luongo 4.53M until 2022
Reimer 3.4M until 2021

Ekblad 7.5M until 2025
Yandle 6.35 until 2023
Demers 4.5 until 2021

Huberdeau 5.9 until 2023
Barkov 5.9M until 2022
Smith 5.0M until 2022
Trocheck 4.75M until 2022
Bjugstad 4.1M until 2021

i.e. 52M for 10 players (5/3/2) until 2021

It's interesting that 6-ish million is holding so steady as being that second contract for the good but not great young forwards. I keep thinking someone, Monahan or whoever, will push it to 7 or so but no dice.

It'll be fun to see where McDavid and Eichel are when they start negotiating next summer.

Toronto?  Perhaps the Swiss Alps?

Curses! My use of colloquialisms foiled again by Overly-Literal Man! You haven't heard the last of me!

So whats the over under on how many of the 10 are playing better than their market value in 3 years (beginning of 2019 season)?

Start at 3.5?

I think the Trocheck, Bjustad, Huberdeau deals are all fair, and may even be really good.  The Barkov and Ekblad deals may end up being steals in a couple of years.  The Luongo and Reimer deals are pretty good.  The contracts for Yandle, Smith, and Demers may end up being overpayments, but it will depend on how the play over the next couple of years.

Florida is in an intriguing situation, locked in to about 66-70% of the cap space for the next 5 years (assuming some cap growth). They've activated Win-Now, which I assume will gut their prospect pool as they push for the Cup each year. They've had a terrible time drafting outside the first round with Trocheck being their only good showing in the past 5 years.

Are they closer to LA/Chicago-level or more like perennial also-rans St. Louis/San Jose (basically don't play in a city named for a saint)?
