#Flyers trade Kimmo Timonen, who hasn't played this season due to blood clots, to #Blackhawks for 2015 2nd-rounder and conditional 2016 4th.

Conditional pick is fourth round. if CHI wins first two rounds it?s a 3rd and three rounds it?s a 2nd with Kimmo playing half the games.

Supply and demand driving prices up. I like Franson's return, but I wonder if some team would have really overpaid on Monday.

Kind of makes you wonder what the rush was to make that deal as early in the game as they did.

That's a pretty hefty rental price to pay for a 39 yr old dman that hasn't played for 10 months coming off a fairly serious health concern.

Yup. I like Timonen. I kinda really wanted Nashville to acquire him actually, but that became pretty much impossible after the Franson deal. I hope he does well, but Philly got a heck of a return here.

That's an insane return for a guy who has played 0 games this year.  As a comparable Stephane Robidas went for a conditional 4th round pick that would have converted to a 3rd round pick if he played 50% of Anaheim's playoff games AND they won two rounds.

Hopefully, it's a sign that there's a real arms race on and GMs are going to get stupid .. and overpay for Lupul, Bozak - whoever is in the Leafs fire sale etc.

Not a bad looking draft for GMs to get stupid for from the Leafs perspective.

We should trade them Horton.

Yeah, what is it all of a sudden with the trading of ghost players?

Seriously, you have to think that the Blackhawks had half the staff at the U of Chicago Medical Center reviewing Timonen's med file before they agreed to this one.  They did say during the game last night that he was ready to return ... but blood clots?  Seems like they could recur anytime.

Eh, I mean, Timmonen's pretty good if healthy. With the health questions he more or less just went for what Winnik got dealt for. Clearly Chicago is pretty confident that he can play and, if so, there's a fair chance they may have just got the best available rental defenseman at a considerable discount compared to what Nashville and LA paid for theirs.
