I would imagine they give Reimer a much deserved night off in the second half of this back to back.  There is no need to risk injury right now by putting Reimer in again and it is important Scrivens gets a game.

After beating the Devils I also wouldn't be surprised if they hold off on Lupes till Thursday as well

A lot of coaches typically don't take a goalie out after a shutout. And points still matter now so I think Carlyle will go with Reimer again. Who knows though.

If it were me I think I'd let Reimer rest up and ride high on his amazing shutout performance for a few days.

I think we've seen it before this year where the 'hot hand' comes out on the 2nd of the back-to-back doesn't look so hot.  Do we really need to put him out there and possibly get crashed back down to earth getting sniped by Ovechkin a few times...

Besides this is either the last or 2nd last back-to-back and Scrivens could use some games in case we need to activate him in the playoffs.

Man 7-1-2 last 10 for the Leafs and 8-1-1 for the Caps...could be a good one if the Leafs have the legs to skate with them after chasing Devils around most of tonight.

I would be impressed with a win against Washington. Arguably the hottest team right now with a 7 game winning streak and we are traveling for the back to back.

Somehow I've gone from hoping we make the playoffs to we could win the division! Craziness!

I say we go with Reimer, and I'll bet we see Lupul tonight. we are chasing home ice, so no one gets a rest until the playoffs are over. Wash tonight will be an epic game, I'll give them the edge, after all we did play last night.

I don't think I've ever known you to NOT predict a Leafs win.  :) ;)

Actually, shutout or not, I don't think Reimer should play.    He needs rest, Scrivens needs work, and quite frankly we don't need this game (I don't think we have a realistic chance at home ice.)

I admit that the leafs are most likely to end up where they are now, but in saying that, both Boston and Montreal have taken a bit of a step back lately.  Boston losing to Carolina and Montreal having price chased from the net two games in a row.  The leafs do have a soft sched to end the season and the last game is still head's up against montreal so..i don't know ..it would seem slightly too early to give up on moving up.

Obviously we would have had a bit more of a sense of it had Boston played last night.

Huh! read the post I just said in it, wash gets the edge. And yes I do pick the Leafs to lose, just not as much as some.

I'd play Scrivens, personally and give Reimer a rest. Soon he won't have time left for resting. :)

Also, if Lupul is cleared to play, he should play.

I think the Caps win in a shootout.

Agreed. The last we need now is for Reimer to 'pull' something. Let him rest. Scrivens needs to see some action if he is going into the playoffs as our number two. Tonight's game should be his. Maybe he can surprise and pull out a victory. Either way, were in tough tonight....

I expect Lupul will play tonight in Washington. Carlyle may clarify here around 5 p.m. but consider him likely.

On the post game last night, Carlyle cracked a comment when asked if Lupul was playing against wash, to ask @myrtle, I just cracked up.

At this juncture, I just don't want to see any serious injuries or burn out. I agree with those who suggest to play Scrivens. He may get lit up by Ovie & Co but, arguably, that's kind of part of a backup's job too.

I'd be content with a shootout loss because it helps their tiebreaker situation - it's almost like winning two points against Washington.
