Is this Grabovski's last game in blue and white?

I hope not.  I wonder how far apart the 2 sides are.

Based on the recent re-signings I imagine Grabovski is asking for anywhere from $5.2-$5.5 million.  No way Leafs pay that.

Why not, if that's the market?*

* This is somewhat facetious.  I remember a few years ago having a huge argument with people on here about what "the market" dictated in terms of paying McCabe.  "The market" is different for all 30 GMs.  In this case, the relevant market for Grabs vis-a-vis his future with the Leafs is whatever Burke is willing to pay.

Yeah but in the team salary structure there's no way they can pay him more than Kessel.  I suppose if you say he's now your #1 center and dump Connolly somehow then Grabby can stay.

Why not?  The market is not the same as when Kessel signed his deal.  Inflation marches on.  Phil would understand, and not pout.

Kessel's next contract would scare me if they gave Grabovski that much.

I don't think Grabs has got it done consistently enough to warrant that kind of money.  With the Leafs complete non-contenders,  I'd take a step back and deal him for prospect(s) and/or pick(s) and bring in Kadri.  An injection of youthful energy would probably do the team some good after their lack-luster performances of late.

I love Grabs but if Burke can land a boatload for him, you have to deal him.  The Leafs are clearly not ready for the playoffs.  We have Bozak and Connolly for next year along with Colborne and even Kadri as other centre options.  Grabs trade value is as high right now as it has ever been and with not a lot out there on the market during this deadline I think you need to grab the assets now.  We will be better for it.  You still may be able to sign him as a UFA anyway and I take my chances with that.

We either surprise and make the playoffs or we tank and maybe get a top 10 pick along the way.

Watershed game on the eve of the eve of the deadline... I can't remember a bigger game in the last few years. Just win, baby.

Grabovski, we hardly knew ye.

6-1 Capitals.

If this was in Vancouver, I'd say start welding the manhole covers and removing vehicles and postal boxes from the downtown core right now.

Love to see the Leafs show up without being as tentative tonight, that and scoring a half a dozen would make me happy.

I'm expecting them to. What I'm more worried about is how they start the second period if they have a good 1st.  They seem to fall asleep in the dressing room and come out flat way too often.

Hopefully having Healy in-studio on the pre-game means the idiot won't
be between the benches. He's doing himself proud already.  ::)

Cassie's doing a nice job on this interview.  She just asked every question I wanted asked.

He just can't help himself. First class tool.

So Burke's not going to deal Grabovski, it sure sounds like.  In a sense, he really can't -- he'd be cutting Wilson off at the knees.
