Gaustad to Nashville.

TSNBobMcKenzie: Sabres also shipped a fourth-round pick to NSH with Gaustad for the 1st rounder.

Can't believe Buffalo actually got a 1st for Gaustad. Prices clearly were crazy this year.

If Grabovski isn't extended, I'll be annoyed, but I also said I'd be annoyed if we dealt him without a replacement so maybe I just get annoyed to easily.

Holy, a 1st for Gaustad seems pretty steep.

Even though this is a shallow draft pool, I still can't believe Nashville coughed up a 1st rounder for Ghost Dad.

Count me in with those who are surprised, maybe even shocked that Buffalo got a first round pick for Gaustad.  At the same time though, I think he will be an important addition to Nashville.  Maybe he'll end up being worth the price.

Nashville ain`t Vancouver, and I`m surprised they think they are.

Before the trades, #10 in offence and #8 in defence, #6 in win%.

They ain't Vancouver and I don't think they think they are. But with their goaltending along with Suter-Weber, they're now an even more dangerous club capable of upsetting anyone. A number of analysts put them in the top 5 with a shot at winning a Cup after what they did today.

.

Nashville is also in the midst of trying to prove to Weber/Suter that they should re-sign with a team fully intent on competing.

Or at the very least, trying to load up for one last shot at the Cup with that core. I can understand why Poile may have been a bit desperate.

At the same time I just view them as such a weird team. They have no offensive stars, but they have a very solid 1-2 in Weber and Suter and Rinne is playing lights out with a .926 SV%. The rest of the team almost seems like well placed depth.

They remind me a little of the Bruins of last year: strong D and goaltending without any top scorers in the top 35 or so of the NHL but with a pretty solid set of forwards.
