So does this mean they would no longer have any interest in Schenn, I wonder?

Schenn is about as good as Aki Berg playing his A+ game.  He has no visible upside.  He's unmovable.

At 22, he still has a long way to go in his development. He's not going to provide flashy offensive numbers but he has shown a little improvement every season in that area. His +/- is 14 points higher than it was last season at this point. I'd call that marked improvement. He leads all NHL defencemen in hits.

His biggest flaw is foot speed in my opinion, but that can be compensated for in other ways. I'd say Schenn has quietly had a decent season. I'm not really sure what qualifies as "visible upside" outside of offensive numbers, but if that's all you're looking for out of Schenn you're probably setting yourself up for disappointment. He can still develop into a very good defensive defenceman. There's lots of time yet.

DNFlyers: Just arrived in Pittsburgh to see Nick Grossmann and the Flyers have agreed to a multi-year extension. More coming.
