Game Notes

MTL
?Lindgren (4-7-2, 2.95 GAA, .907 Sv%) will start for the Habs
?In Lindgren's last 3 starts he's given up 16 goals and has a save percentage of .822. Niemi meanwhile has a .942 save percentage in his past 7 games so they'll probably be shutting him down with a groin injury soon
?Former Leaf Rinat Valiev was called up by Montreal earlier this month and played in 2 games before suffering a leg injury

TOR
?McElhinney (9-4-1, 2.25 GAA, .931 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?The Leafs had an off day on Friday so the line-up is based off of Thursday's game. There was no real update on any of the injured Leafs
?Babcock doesn't seem to think either Komarov or Andersen's injuries are serious, Zaitsev might have the plague or something, and Matthews has been skating for awhile now so should be nearing a return
?Johnsson might swap back in for Martin if Babcock wants to keep rotating those two

Injuries

?David Schlemko - Upper Body - Questionable Saturday
?Andrew Shaw - Head - Questionable Saturday
?Phillip Danault - Head - Questionable Saturday
?Rinat Valiev - Lower Body - Questionable Saturday
?Victor Mete - Finger - Injured Reserve
?Max Pacioretty - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Carey Price - Concussion - Injured Reserve
?Shea Weber - Foot - Injured Reserve
?Ales Hemsky - Concussion - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - Actually Injured - Out indefinitely
?Auston Matthews - Shoulder - Injured Reserve
?Nikita Zaitsev - Flu - Questionable Saturday
?Frederik Andersen - Upper Body - Questionable Saturday
?Leo Komarov - Lower Body - Questionable Saturday

Reilly vs Rielly

Would have liked to see Sparks get a chance against these losers

Well, they didn't scratch Carrick.

Edit:  Also, wasn't it right about now, last year, that Polak started to play well?

If my calculations are correct, the Leafs don?t have a spare defender called up to bench Carrick.

Why would Sparks get the start? I'm not following. Mac has done nothing but been the ultimate backup the whole season and has put up great numbers doing so.  Now that Freddie goes down you're going to play the AHL guy over him? Mac is now the #1 guy till Freddie gets back or he falters.

Yup he played very well down the stretch and in the playoffs until he got hurt. Like him or not, he's a valuable piece going forward, especially in the playoffs when things get a lot tougher.

McBackup played in back to backs (ok not the entire game) but tonight would be his 3rd game in 4 nights. Also Montreal stinks so would be a nice time to get Sparks in there for some confidence at the NHL level.

Nice to see Moore and Plenkanec both in. Will be interesting with Moore on the wing.

From the interviews I've read with Plekanec like the one today in the Athletic it really sounds like he doesn't want to be here. He sounds so unenthusiastic about it.

Not a gud pro.

What a time to be alive.

I think the reason Moore is in the lineup though is so Babcock can bump Plekanec up with Nylander and Hyman if he's not liking what he sees. So hopefully they have a good start.

I don't see that at all. I see a low keyed guy who still trying to adjust to getting traded but wants to be better for the Leafs. He's also playing around 4 mins less a game then he did in Montreal to because we have greater depth. I personally think he's trying to hard and just needs to play his game and he'll be fine. After a slow start on the draws he's now sitting at 57% for the Leafs.

That would make some sense, which would mean putting Johnsson right back with Moore and Kapanen.

You are very likely correct here, sir.
