I thought I couldn't be more excited than I was before the start of last season, after seeing what these kids can do, I am so pumped to get the new season going.  Expectations are sky high for me.

I spend the off-season the same as I do the regular season: I hit the refresh button on this site every five minutes to see if there's any news.

I'm worried this is going to be a problem for me...expectations too high. After all, the leafs only just barely made the playoffs. And that is in a year in which they had ridiculous injury luck. We can hope all the rookies get a notch better but player development trajectories are not always so smooth.

This is right on the mark, even if it risks buzzkill.  I hope people won't freak out if they regress this year, which is entirely possible.  Esp. on the injury front; we almost certainly won't be as lucky.

I noticed better team defense in the second half, culminating with several 2-1 games against Washington. With so many rookies and a new goalie/system they were very slow out of the gate remember. Sophamore regression/injuries are possible, but also maturity as a young unit growing together and the 19/20-year-olds are getting stronger, not weaker. Miss playoffs/Win Stanley Cup. I don't see either as out of the realm of possibility.

I honestly see missing the playoffs as more unlikely than winning the Cup right now.

Eh are you gonna make some game day threads for the 2017-18 season?  Those were great back in the day.  True classics.  ;D

Those were the days.  Until Mr. Fancy Pants Carlton The Bear stole my thunder.

Any idea who the other two guys are?

They look like they could be hockey players.

Hanifin (born in Boston) and Pastrnak (of course plays for Boston).

Before the trade rumours spin out of control, they're there together in Boston for their equipment sponsor Bauer's promotional event.
