Jagr to Boston

tsn.ca reporting this now.

These moves make me less inclined to have the Leafs do something.  BOS and PIT are obviously loading up in anticipation of meeting each other in the playoffs.  We can't match either, yet I think we still have at least a ghost of a chance of upsetting either with our current lineup.  I am beginning to drift into the STAND PAT camp.

Jagr would have been nice but not at that price thats lunacy. I don't think the Leafs should do anything. Moves at this time of year cost way too much and I really dont think there is any positive progress to be made here in that respect.

3 players for a 40 year old?  Yeah seems like a bit much.  Haven't looked into the "prospects" maybe they'll never make it so it'll be a wash.

Good pick up for Boston. Just what they needed to help their PP. If they can add a good offensive dman to quarterback their PP, they'll be trouble for any club (if they aren't already).

I think Jagr is the better addition for Boston, and would have been for Pittsburgh too.

Kunitz-Crosby-Jagr

That would have been incredible, and the city would have gone nuts.

.... or not

TSNBobMcKenzie: DAL will receive prospects Lane MacDermid and Cody Payne (Plymouth) as part of the Jagr trade with BOS.

Based on their numbers, both prospects look like 4th line checking/enforcer types at best - though, Payne showed some offensive flair this season.

Guess both guys were low picks / longshots, although Payne is only 19 at the moment.

Both Lane MacDermid & Cody Payne aren't in Boston's top 10 prospects. Conditional 2nd rounder per reports. A steal for Jag

Pricks.

Well Boston getting better bodes well for them passing the Habs in the standings.  :P

To be honest, Boston hasn't looked that fantastic this season.  In years past they looked like a legit contender (especially when playing the Leafs) but this year it really seems like something is missing.  They've lost a couple times to the Habs and Pens among others.  I know their record is great, but I don't really see them as a true contender for some reason.  Maybe it's just me.

Part of me wants to see the Leafs face Boston in the first round just to have a chance at being the ones to knock them off.

The other part of me doesn't want to see the Leafs get swept in the first round.

Pretty good deal for Boston. Not so good for Nieuwendyk

I'm telling you, the prices are low for some reason.

It is weird, with so many supposed buyers.

I wonder if the prices start going up on deadline day?

I'm guessing there are probably less buyers than we think. I think that basically nobody wants to take on salary so the only teams out there actively looking are the teams that see value in dealing prospects and picks for rentals.
