This might be a good indicator of how Reimer's next contract will look if he maintains his current pace.

Reimer has a year left and is an RFA after that so they still have some leverage on him.  I'd really like to see him repeat his success with 65 starts in a season before we go dishing out that kind of money.

That's pretty much what I was saying.

Add in Kessel, Phaneuf, McClement, Kulemin, Frattin, & Gardiner will also be up for re-signing for 2014-15 and you can appreciate the dilemma/cap burden Bozak, Kadri, Komarov, Colborne, MacArthur (or replacement), Orr (or replacement), McLaren, O'Byrne, Gunnarsson, Franson, & Fraser will place on the team to re-sign them this summer.

It's going to be tough keeping this squad together through 2014-15 much less upgrade it. That's why a compliant buyout of Liles might be something they have to look at.

Geez, Howard sure looked good last night :o

Fighting to keep their playoff berth, the Wings & Howard are 3-5-2 in their last 10. Columbus has taken over 8th by 2 pts but the Wings have a game in hand and the ROW tiebreaker. So they're not quite done yet but they're in trouble. Dallas is also breathing down their necks for that 8th spot.

I haven't seen a lot of Howard but I've never seen him impress me enough to want to give him the size of deal he got. Hollan was a goalie so presumably he sees something I haven't.

He strikes me as the kind of "reliable but unimpressive" goalie type, and, I imagine, if was playing behind a less defensive conscious team, his numbers would look entirely ordinary.
