I don't know what's funnier: what this means for the all-star game or that Montreal thinks John Scott can help their team in any way.

Too busy laughing.

Bob McKenzie says these are the pieces:

@TSNBobMcKenzie

ARI-MTL trade call is in works. Tinordi to ARI and return expected to be John Scott and Stefan Elliott.

Elliott just cleared waivers today. Scott's cleared waivers twice this season.

In November Friedman said that Montreal was likely asking for 2 second rounders for Tinordi.

McKenzie saying Elliott will be dealt elsewhere.

McKenzie is saying it will be to Nashville for Victor Bartley.

Which is...I don't know?  He's a 27 year old, undrafted defenseman with 23 points in 112 career NHL games.

Also cleared waivers this season! This has gotta be some kind of record.

How could Arizona trade an All Star team captain?!?!?

Seriously, though, way too complicated a trade for a group of marginal players. Elliott might have the best potential, so I guess Nashville wins? Or maybe Arizona with Tinordi, if they can make him a better skater? All I know is that this one doesn't really help the Habs much.

I'm surprised Montreal gave up on Tinordi this soon.

Not a great skater. Makes up for it a little by having a big stride, so, in longer races, he's not always a liability, but when he has to react quickly, he's not good. He also basically has no offensive abilities, and is not great with the puck. He's very much the type of defenceman that's becoming obsolete.

That sounds like you just described Luke Schenn.  Which makes sense of everything.

Scott and Bartley will be sent to the AHL per Lavoie:
