Weird. So he can't play on the Marlies? So he just sits for now?herman said:https://twitter.com/earlschwartz27/status/1110269833621504001
herman said:We could definitely throw him out against one of the final games to give Andersen a rest and Woll a whirl. He?s also playoffs eligible for us. It?s probably better not to play him though (expansion)
Highlander said:Then I don't understand why we signed him now, only to sit him, no AHL experience and if he had to play then he would be expansion available? What the F? Did we have to sign him or would he have gone free market, I don't think so?
Thanks for the explanation.CarltonTheBear said:Highlander said:Then I don't understand why we signed him now, only to sit him, no AHL experience and if he had to play then he would be expansion available? What the F? Did we have to sign him or would he have gone free market, I don't think so?
He could have returned to college next season and then became a free agent after that. This guarantees that he turns pro next season and avoids that situation. All signing him now costs is a signing bonus and it burns a year off his ELC, neither of which are big deals. He won't play a game so it won't effect his expansion draft or future UFA statuses.
