Kostka signs with Chicago

Their fans seem very happy at signing him judging by the comments.

They just won their second cup in four years. I'm pretty sure happiness is a permanent state of fandom at that point.

I'd probably take Kostka at whatever salary he just signed for over Fraser and whatever salary he's going to get in arbitration.

I feel the same way.

@CTB I feel he brings a different game than Fraser does. There is no way I would take Kaska over Fraser..

He never should have been given the minutes/role he was (a common RC complaint), but as a 6/7 defenceman he would have been fine.

I wouldn't be surprised if they already had a prospect like Petter Granberg penciled ahead of him.  Although RC took heat from playing Kostka, he did send a message on how he expects players to play.  For all those non-Gardiner/Reilly-types, it must be encouraging to think they have a chance.

Yeah there's a pretty gaping spot on the 3rd pairing for a RH D-man.

I have to agree with you; a journeyman dman should never have been given first pairing minutes with Phaneuf.
