Kris Versteeg keeping his talents in South Beach 4yrs/17.6 million

Yup, 4.4 for a guy you can slot on your second line and is in the 40-60 point range isn't horrible.

Add in the versatility and that he's responsible defensively and I think it's a very smart move.

Nik, sort of rich for a 20 - 25 goal scorer, no?  I think the Kulemin signing, in comparison, looks great (I acknowledge Versteeg has had more consistent point production, but Kulemin plays an equally complete game and is probably more robust).

I don't think so, no. PA Parenteau got 4 million per for scoring 18 goals playing with John Tavares.

Both are good defensively, and where Kulemin has good size, Versteeg has versatility. But like you mentioned, Versteeg has consistently been in the 40-60 point range since becoming an NHL regular, whereas Kulemin hasn't shown consistency yet...For me this is a tad high for Versteeg, but not unreasonable, whereas Kulemin is in the appropriate range based on his struggles last season...

Kulemin's deal will look great if he returns to 50-60 point form, mind you.
