Game Notes

TOR
?Hutchinson (0-3-1, 4.26 GAA, .885 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Hutchinson is still looking for for first win of the season. This will be a big opportunity for him as he goes up against the 5th lowest scoring team in the league and will be playing a tired team for the first time this season
?Marner will not be traveling to Chicago after leaving Saturday's game with an ankle injury. Babcock didn't really have much more of an update on his status than that
?Lines are a bit up in the air because of Marner's status, so don't put a ton of stock in those projected lines. We don't know yet if someone like Petan will be called up to replace him or if Spezza will be inserted into the line-up instead

CHI
?Lehner (3-3-2, 2.33 GAA, .935 Sv%) will likely start for the Blackhawks
?Chicago is also coming off a 3-2 shootout loss on Saturday night. They blew a 2-0 lead on their way to losing to the Penguins
?Lehner and Crawford have been pretty evenly splitting the goalie duties for Chicago so far this season, but Lehner's numbers have been significantly better so of course he gets game 2
?That's William's brother, Alexander Nylander, lining up on Chicago's top line. The Blackhawks acquired him from Buffalo in the offseason and he has 2 goals and 7 points in 15 games this season
?Chicago had two talented teenagers in their press box on Saturday night. Adam Boqvist (8th overall pick in 2018) and Kirby Dach (3rd overall pick in 2019) were scratched against Pittsburgh as part of what was called a "development plan". Wouldn't be surprised if both were back in the line-up against the Leafs

Injuries

?Mitch Marner - Ankle - Out Sunday
?Zach Hyman - Knee - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Connor Murphy - Groin - Injured Reserve

Well, better an ankle than a knee, which is sure looked like got folded over on that play.

OTOH if it's a high ankle sprain then he's done for a long time.

The fact that he came out later and tried to skate and return to the game is hopefully a sign that it isn't a very serious injury.

Eh, I'm not as confident as you are...the sprains feel worse the next day.

It didn't look pretty, and surely given their recent large investment in the player, I bet he gets extra careful treatment here.

Babcock is perplexing.  I really like Gauthier?s improvement this year but he just doesn?t have the offensive contribution to be playing up in the lineup.

Gauthier was the one who was bumped up to the 3rd line last night, but again we don't know who will play there tonight.

Personally I?m just hoping that Marner was going rogue on the PP1 and the constant drop pass only to skate into a clogged neutral zone strategy will stop.

Hutchinson really needs to win this one.  The Blackhawks are not very good and they will be just as tired as we are.  If he has a bad game it's time to cut him loose and bring in ...  anybody.

Anyway, I have to miss this one so Go Leafs Go!

And if Hutchison should fail or go down in battle, who will pick up the torch of back up and carry it into the warring fray?............perhaps;

Kasimir Kaskisuo stopped 29 of 31 shots he faced. Kaskisuo is now 6-1-1-0 on the season with a .927 Save Percentage and a 2.13 Goals Against Average.

He definitely doesn't have the hands, but he is a beast down low on the boards. Seems like he is able to win a lot of the battles down there. I'd rather have him playing the extra minutes versus someone like Spezza.

GO LEAFS GO!

Hawks have been playing somewhat better. Kane picking it up, Marner out, our struggles with bottom dwellers. Ain?t looking good.
