Game Notes

TOR
?Andersen (38-21-5, 2.81 GAA, .918 Sv%) will start for the Leafs
?Andersen's coming into the playoffs with .908 Sv% in his past 20 games
?Babcock will go with Toronto's expected playoff line-up in Game 1: that means Komarov over Johnsson
?Auston Matthews ended his season with 14 points in 10 games. Nylander, Marner, and Gardiner all had 9 in their last 10, while Rielly had 8
?Toronto and Boston are the only 2 teams in the league with 3 30-goal scorers this season. Toronto has them spread out on 3 lines while on Boston they're loaded up on their top line
?Because of that, two keys for the Leafs this round will be minimizing whatever damage the Bergeron line will be able to do, and trying to win the other 3 line match-ups

BOS
?Rask (34-14-5, 2.36 GAA, .917 Sv%) will start for the Bruins
?Rask was unbeatable in December and January (no, literally, he didn't have a regulation loss in 19 games), but his play has dropped the past couple of months. He's 12-6-1 in his past 19 games with just a .904 Sv%
?The Bruins are also scratching a talented young forward for Game 1. Ryan Donato recorded 9 points in 12 games after his NCAA season wrapped up but will start the playoffs as a healthy scratch
?Donato's spot in the line-up is being taken by Rick Nash, who missed the final 12 games of the regular season with a concussion. He had 6 points in 11 games as a Bruin prior to that
?Boston will be without Riley Nash to start the series. Nash has been an effective bottom-6 centre for the team this season and one of their central PKers. He hasn't been ruled out for Game 2 yet
?Brandon Carlo has been ruled out for the entire playoffs after injuring his ankle in the last week of the season. He was 2nd behind Chara in PK time on the team

Injuries

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - Actually Injured - Out indefinitely
Code:

?Brandon Carlo - Ankle - Out for season
?Anders Bjork - Shoulder - Out for season
?Riley Nash - Head - Questionable Thursday

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!! Playoff game day thread!

I'm all anxious and shit, so weird feeling so much optimism.

GO LEAFS GO!

Ugh, butterflies already. Go Leafs!! Please, oh please don't let me down. I can hardly remember what it feels like to see them head to the second round, but I'm ready to give it a try!

I'm nervous like I get before any Leafs playoff game. Just want to get this thing going already

I'm not nervous.  The Leafs are set to be good for many years, and they are not favorites to win this series, let alone the Cup.  So let the chips fall where they may. It's all a matter of getting some breaks and continuing to learn how to play playoff hockey.  The talent is close to being at the level of a real contender.

I hate having to wait another year.  It takes so long to get through a season to the games that matter.  Now that they're here, I want to win.  #WhyNotUs?

Yeah, I don't care that we're the underdogs. Not winning at least one series this year is gonna be a pretty big disappointment for me.

Like every other Leaf Fan I would love to see them win it all this year, but lets face it it's a long shot. I was 15 the last time we won. I'm just hoping I have another year. :)

I agree, why not now? We're not playing with house money anymore. We'll be less a 40 goal scorer next year. There is no #1 d-man knocking on the door. We may be as good as we're going to be today.

I don't think the Leafs will be worse going forward, in fact I expect this team to keep growing as the young guys mature into their peak years.  Ice time for Matthews, Marner and Nylander should increase as the seasons go on and they hit their peak.  That being said, I still want to win right now.

I hope your right but there's no guarantee things will progress that way. Fact is we're pretty damn good today. Everyone's healthy too and playing well at the same time. Let's strike while the iron's hot.

I've predicted Leafs in 6.

The key is to shut down the Bergeron line. If they can do that, Leafs will be fine in this series.

Go Leafs Go!!!

I think BOS will be taking liberties with our kids and my hope is that we're able to not retaliate and to not let it get to us. Put your head down and kill them with your speed and skill. I am worried about Kadri having a fit. I am not convinced he can keep his cool. No flopping or embellishments just take it and move on and stick to our game.

These are exciting times. I know Leafs are not favored to win this series but I'll be disappointed if they don't.

Let's get one tonight, then only 15 more to go!

GO LEAFS GO!

We just need an 8-2 chunk to get to the conference final.  It's been done this year!
