No idea how to properly display Twitter, sorry.

I had a feeling this would happen. Marchenko is nothing special, but if a rightie goes down he's a lot more likely to get playing time than Corrado.

Tough for Corrado to be treated the way he was but hopefully he'll latch on somewhere.

Frankly Frankie was becoming a distraction what with his incessant whining, stirring the TSN trade rumor pot day in and day out, and eating all the do-nuts up in the press box before Lou could get any.

If you think about it, he's probably the reason they've played like such independent contractors the last few games.

I wouldn't go so far as to call him a cancer, but he certainly was an upper respiratory infection.

I like this. He and Zaitsev are buddies, and Babcock endorsed. It will be interesting to see how he gets along. At very least maybe we rid ourselves of Polak

Be nice if this ends up being a steal. Babcock may have earned the 3rd rounder going to Detroit for his hiring.

He's not exactly an unknown quantity. He's 25 with 110 NHL games under his belt. The odds of him being much of anything are pretty slim and at best he's a #6 guy if/when/please the team trades Hunlak at the deadline.

Just space filling at this point.

So Russia used Zaitsev & Marchenko as a pairing in the World Cup, which some say was their best. I wonder if Babcock tries this despite their both being righties. Gardiner has been pretty bad for a good stretch.

Here is what the Hockey News has to say about him...
Assets
Has an excellent frame (6-3, 210 pounds), plus plenty of puck-moving ability from the back end. Plays with poise with the puck on his stick and owns good hockey sense.
Flaws:
Is not physically imposing, which negates his size advantage at the National Hockey League level to some extent. Points are not easy to come by for him, either.
Career Potential:
Quality puck-moving defenseman.

Sounds like a righthanded Martin Marincin who can actually handle the puck and hopefully doesn't take stupid penalties. Maybe he'll also learn a thing or two from Zaitsev. If he can just get the puck up to Leaf forwards he'll pick up more points. I think Hunwick has to go back in for Marincin. If Marchenko works out, Polak likely gets traded as someone mentioned earlier.

Called it. If this was earlier in the season or in the off season, I'm sure someone grabs him. But every team is basically in a playoff hunt, and nobody has room for a player who is still basically at a training camp stage.

Nice for us, asset-wise. Not so great for our contract count, and certainly not so great for Corrado. At least he'll get top 4 minutes to get back on track, and maybe get added to a deadline deal due to his 0% chance cracking a Babcock lineup.

Forget top-4, with the Marlies depth (or lack of) on the right side and Keefe's comments on him during his conditioning stint, Corrado could very well be the teams #1 defenceman down there.

It'll be really interesting to see how the Marlies do for the rest of the year. You could say that they've essentially picked up a top pairing defenceman, a 1st line forward, and a very good starting goalie all in the past couple of weeks.

The defencemen we covered with Corrado. Griffith has 9 points in 6 games with the team so far since being claimed off waivers again and assigned down there. As for the goaltending, the Marlies went through the 1st half of the season stubbornly believing that Bibeau was the teams number 1 goalie despite his stats being pretty bad, especially post-October. Sparks started just 6 games for the team prior to Christmas. Sparks has now started 5 of the past 7 games for the team. He ranks 2nd in the league among goalies in GAA and 5th in save percentage. Bibeau is 33rd and 39th in those stats respectively. Hopefully Sparks continues to get the bulk of their starts going forward.

Speaking of which I'm sure it's a pro contract thing but is there really any reason why someone like Brooks is being left to put up video game numbers in the WHL as opposed to getting bumped to the Marlies? Or if you start the season in junior can you only move up for the playoffs?
