Game Notes

TOR
?Campbell (20-6-3, 2.35 GAA, .923 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Mrazek was originally expected to start this game but after an early Campbell pull last night there's a chance that plan changes. I'd guess since Mrazek played 50 minutes last night that he would get this one off

NJ
?Gillies (1-5-1, 2.92 GAA, .907 Sv%) will likely start for the Devils

Injuries

?Jake Muzzin - Concussion - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Jonathan Bernier - Hip - Injured Reserve
?Mackenzie Blackwood - Heel - Injured Reserve
?Dougie Hamilton - Jaw - Injured Reserve
?Michael McLeod - Undisclosed - Injured Reserve
?Miles Wood - Hip - Injured Reserve

I'd go with Mrazek tonight but I can see Keefe coming right back with Jack to try and get his confidence going again. Not an easy call here.

At this point 2 points is all I?d like to see.  1-0, 11-0. 9-8 after blowing a 6-0 lead

If they get 2 points it?s all good.  Can worry about systems in the middle of February if they are still struggling

Somewhat on/off? topic: how are the Leafs able to afford to carry 4 extras under the cap? Is Muzzin saving that much?

Taxi squad. They're technically not on the roster.

The taxi squads are also scheduled to be dissolved after the all-star break. Meaning unless something happens between now and the next game Ritchie could be playing in the AHL for the first time in 6 years.

He had that groin thing though....I don't think an unnecessary back to back starts is a good idea.

I'm with C, I think they go with Campbell.

Ahh, forgot about that. I blame CtB's poor reporting.

From the mental point of view, I'd give Campbell the start to give him a chance to have a good game before the break.

Budget cuts meant I couldn't include another header this season.

Matthews hit 400 points last night.  He's 3 goals away from hitting top 10 in Leafs history.  Currently sits 20th in total points and could get as high at getting into the top 15 (passing Clark 441, Gilmour at 452 and a real outside shot at Tim Horton 458 and Lanny McDonald 459)

We fawn over him but we don't do it enough.

I am hoping that Matthews can be a Leaf for ever and smash every single Leaf record. Including Sitter's 10 points night.

I have never seen a Leafs player as talented as him.  Sundin was close, but Matthews is just a rung up on Sundin.  Where Sundin would have flashes where you could say he was one of the top 5 players in the League, Matthews has flashes where he is in the conversation for one of the top 2 or 3 and normally safely within the top 5.

I've never seen anyone score like him....maybe Bossy but that was a different era and he can stick handle in a phone booth.
