Game Notes

TOR
?Sparks (2-1-0, 4.00 GAA, .879 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?The Leafs are 2-0 on their current California road trip and have outscored the opposition 10-4
?We've seen Ozhiganov getting swapped out in the second half of a back-to-back lately, so there's a chance Marincin or Holl could come into the line-up
?Southern California native Trevor Moore was probably hoping to get a chance to make his NHL debut close to home, but with the team scoring as well as they Babs might not want to tinker there

ANA
?Gibson (6-7-3, 2.60 GAA, .927 Sv%) will likely start for the Ducks
?The Ducks are playing some classic Randy Carlyle hockey here, sporting a 44.2% CF that is second worst only to the sens
?John Gibson was doing his best to keep the team afloat at first, posting a .949 Sv% in his first 8 games of the season while only going 4-3-1. In the next 8 games though his save percentage has only been .902
?Corey Perry has been out all season: he suffered a knee injury in the warm-ups of a preseason game that will likely keep him out until February
?Cam Fowler was placed on the IR just this week after fracturing his right orbital bone, cheekbone, and jaw bone when he got hit in the face with a shot

Injuries

?Auston Matthews - Shoulder - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Max Comtois - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Patrick Eaves - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Cam Fowler - Face - Injured Reserve
?Korbinian Holzer - Wrist - Injured Reserve
?Corey Perry - Knee - Injured Reserve
?Carter Rowney - Upper Body - Injured Reserve

When's the last time we swept in Cali? Never? Let's do this. I feel like the guys are rolling now and expect a well-played win. Warm-and-fuzzies team-building win last night.

This is absolutely a good opportunity to win the back to back here against a bad Anaheim team with injury issues but it's still a back-to-back and Sparks really hasn't proven that he can win a game for us yet.

Toronto hasn?t even been in position to sweep California since then.

Shilton is a pretty good beat writer but this makes no sense.  Every time they play in California they are in a position to sweep ... before their first game.

I mean maybe her wording is a tad off but that just means they've never even gone 2-0 with a chance to go 3-0 before.

If that's what she meant, then that's what she should have said.  Twitter in general encourages sloppy, hasty writing.

Would be if I were picking apart posters' sentences on here.  Not so, critiquing the pros.

I knew what she meant with her sloppy, hasty writing. I'm sure most did also.

I like early leads.

4th line got hemmed in there after generating some initial pressure.  That?s the ying and yang.

Not sure why Johnsson?s primary move when he breaks into the zone is to fire a slapper with no side to side movement. It?s very rare to beat a goalie that way.
