Aside from the record at the top, the Leafs stats haven't been updated from the Edmonton game. I'll get around to that in the morning.

With 3 days until the next game, Reimer could start this game and be fine. But it'd be surprising if Bernier doesn't start.

Somebody did a pretty good analysis that shows a goaltender's save percentage really suffers when they play back-to-back games (but as long as the games aren't back to back it doesn't matter hw much exta rest a guy gets)..  Unless the backup goaltender is awful, it pays to switch them up on the back half.  Play Bernier.

The Flames are a pretty hard working team, so the Leafs will have to earn this one.

As bad as they look on paper, I've seen parts of some of their games and they actually seem to always come out flying in the 1st period.

I'm predicting a loss here, the Leafs are 0-4-0 against teams beginning with "C" and 9-0-0 against others  ??? Weird stats aside this should be a pretty close one, the Flames aren't as bad as their roster looks like. They haven't lost on regulation at home yet so let's hope the Leafs don't underestimate them or they'll be surprised.

Only Edmonton has allowed more goals per game this season than Calgary. Defence is a dirty word in Alberta. Solid goaltending is against the law.

i don't expect calgary to be easy..but i feel all things considered that the leafs should have a good shot here.  They're playing back to back nights..but winning against edmonton easy the night before seems like a good thing..didn't have to ride any of the top lines hard....if we use both bernier and liles that will be two guys getting another opportunity to prove they belong ..so i think the effort will be there.  I like our chances

Colborne's going to bury us, you watch.  :P

I do really think that the injury situation we are in now is exactly why we shouldn't have moved Colborne. We really don't have anybody on the Marlies that can fill in as a top-9 centre which forces Carlyle to use McClement instead. And I think he's much better suited to either play wing on a 3rd checking unit or centre the 4th line. Also, without McClement our 4th line is as useless as ever.

At the very least if we kept Colborne Lupul would have had somebody to play with.

It's too bad Bozak is out. I was looking forward to him and Stajan matching up together and then players, fans, coaches alike being confused as to which one was which all game.

Good point, I would have dropped Mclaren or Orr or both to keep Colborne as I feel he will develop nicely, just not with us unfortunately.

Just going off my last post a bit, I feel this line-up looks much better than what we'll ice tonight:

JVR-Kadri-Kessel
Lupul-Colborne-Raymond/Clarkson
McClement-Bolland-Clarkson/Raymond
Ashton-Smith-Orr

Even if Colborne only helped us through this 2 week period, it's likely more than that 4th rounder will ever do.

Yeah, almost 3.5 goals against per game, almost dead last on the PK, scoring 9 even strength goals for every 10 let in, and both goalies with a sub .900 save percentage? Yup, that isn't really getting things done defensively, is it?
