Game Notes

TOR
?Curtis McBackup (4-3-2, 2.29 GAA, .928 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Last nights events pushed the Leafs out of a playoff spot. They sit 9th in the east, 1 point behind Florida and Boston for 3rd in the Atlantic and the 2nd WC spot respectively
?No morning skate today so we don't have any inforamation yet on any possible line-up changes. It would SEEM like a perfect chance to put Marchenko in

CAR
?Cam Ward (21-17-7, 2.61 GAA, .906 Sv%) will likely start for the Blue Jackets

Injuries

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - ?\_(ツ)_/? - Out indefinitely
?Stephane Robidas - Old - Out indefinitely
?Mitch Marner - Shoulder - Day to day

Sigh. These Leafs getting my hopes up and then dashing them again. I didn't think they'd make the playoffs when the season started but then I allowed myself to hope because they were playing so well.

I'll be 48 this year, I can't even count how many times the Leafs have kicked me in the nuts

I think when this season started expectations of making the playoffs were next to non existent, so to still be on the cusp is a nice suprise.  I sort of liken what they are going through to a golf analogy.  You are playing your best game of golf ever, having fun, you may break 80 or 90 for the first time and your heading into the last 4 holes and then the wheels come off.  Up till the break the team was playing for fun, now they have a shot of the playoffs the wheels appear to be doing the same as our famous golf game.

I'll just say, for an enterprise that is supposedly in the business of providing entertainment, the NHL may want to rethink schedules that make one team play the night before, get on a plane and fly 2+ hours, thus ensuring that they will arrive tired and sluggish and play like crap.  Solid.

Awful Cam Ward stats, terrible context on a cap graphic, a reference from a show most of our parents where too young to watch, Kalinin in place of Gardiner on the lineup graphic.

Sportsnet clearly has the interns and the blue rinse brigade running tonight's broadcast.

I just don't get Babcock you got 4 on 4 and Nylander doesnt see the ice. I see he came out with the shortened power play. Kids one of your best skaters, puck handlers and he's not out there. Is he that poor defensively in Babcock's eyes? I don't get it.

I've been kind of avoiding the GDTs of late, because of the negative nancies that have showed up with arguments I just can't fathom. The team has dramatically exceeded expectations, they're fun to watch, and they have teenagers/rookies literally leading the team. But no, they don't knock people over in the crease, get into meaningless fights, and Babcock's a terrible coach because he can't make teenagers play like they're in their late 20's, or put in a system that make average veteran players look like all-stars.

I hope a few more people post on here are actually enjoying this season as much as I am.

Playoffs or no playoffs,  best season in a long time. Tough to find legitimate fault in anything they've done this season. I'm having a great time!
