Game Notes

TOR
-Andersen will likely start for the Leafs
-With the first back-to-back of the season Jack Campbell will likely see a start this weekend, but I'm guessing he goes Saturday
-Keefe said that while the entire taxi squad will travel with the team to Toronto he wasn't expecting any changes to the line-up

ott
-Matt Murray will likely start for the sens
-The sens will open their season against the Leafs. All eyes will be on 19-year old Tim St?tzle, who the sens selected 3rd overall in the 2020 entry draft
-Poor Connor Brown, after a season where he flirted with 20 goals he once again gets bumped down the line-up into less of an offensive role
-Colin White, who is in year-2 of a 6 year, $28.5mil contract, will begin the season as a healthy scratch

During Thursday's Ottawa Senators media conference with Pierre Dorion and D.J. Smith, I was halfway through asking a question about Colin White's tentative playing status for opening night when the general manager interjected -- before I could even mention the centre's name.

"The lineup is 100 percent D.J. and whatever decisions he makes gets my 110 percent support," Dorion said with authority. "Whatever decisions he makes, whoever he sits out, I know is for the benefit of the group. And I support it more than any other thing that I've supported in my life."

This seems like a pretty violent overreaction to "We're a team"

I don't think Ottawa are going to be competing for a playoff spot good, but I do think they signed enough guys for 1-off seasons that they are going to give teams some problems.

One problem with that is it might have cost them a decent young player in Rudolfs Balcers, who they had to place on waivers and lost to San Jose (who originally traded him to the sens in the Karlsson trade). Balcers might not turn into much, but the team and their fans were very high on him all summer. Now he's gone so Austin Watson can take penalties and Galchenyuk can eat popcorn.

Go Leafs Go!

I know we can score, my wish for this game is to keep the goals against to 2 or less (3 tops). I want to see a tangible change to the back end.

I appreciate the slight jab at the sens in lower case.

Are you new?

I get more senile by the year so I may as well be new.

Ya man...sens and habs has been a proper thing for ever and ever.

We disrespect them so much, we don't even capitalize their names.  I'm sure this drives them crazy!

I'd like to see the Leafs have a laugher of a win for once. Score early, score often and wrap it up like 6-1.

I could get aboard that train . As long as its not running down giant elephants in St. Thomas.

Yeah. They?re not going to be good, but teams are to have to put in the work to beat them.
