Legwand signs with Ottawa

I wonder what happen, didn't Dreger say the Leafs offer was 4 million? I guess he felt he fit better in Ottawa.

Dreger might be wrong.

True enough. Or it could be as Potvin says, for 1 year.

It also just makes more sense for Ottawa. Legwand got 50 points last year(for only the third time in his career) while getting a ton of PP time. He'll challenge for their #2 job now that Spezza's gone. As the Leaf's #3 center he'd be relied on for things he's not all that great at like face-offs and defensive stuff.

Not like I know but I thought he wasn't bad at "defensive stuff", often playing against the better players on the other team.

Well, in the last 4 years he's seen his PK time steadily decline from getting almost two minutes a game to the point where he wasn't used on the PK at all last season. It's pretty hard not to associate that with a decline in defensive ability.

Remember, the other team gets to match lines too. "Hey, Legwand's on...time to go for a goal" is a reason a player may play against the other team's best too.
