Game Notes

TB
?Vasilevskiy (38-10-4, 2.42 GAA, .925 Sv%) will likely start for the Lightning
?The bad news: Tampa became just the 3rd team in the history of the league and 1st since the 95/96 Red Wings to hit 60 wins in a season
?The good news: Tampa is 0-1 since then, clearly showing that it's all downhill from here
?Hedman has been ruled out for the rest of the regular season with an upper body injury that's almost certainly a concussion he sustained over the weekend

TOR
?Andersen (36-15-6, 2.75 GAA, .918 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?No practice yesterday meant no update on the Leafs injured or sick players. Babcock said last week that he hoped Gardiner could return and play in the final 2 games of the regular season, so all eyes will be on him at practice

Injuries

?Dan Girardi - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Victor Hedman - Upper Body - Day to day
?Louis Domingue - Lower Body - Questionable Thursday
Code:

?Jake Gardiner - Back - Injured Reserve
?Andreas Johnsson - Illness - Questionable Thursday
?Jake Muzzin - Illness - Questionable Thursday

If they put Nylander in Matthews spot, and Matthews where Kadri was, this could be very effective.  Granted Matthews has a hell of a shot, but PP1 was missing the right hand shot on the left side for the one-timer/fake one-timer pass to the high slot.

You'll probably see Nylander open up and collapse down to the left post, or stay up high and present an easier high tip for Matthews, or bump pass to a Tavares layup on the far post.

Unless they opt for the time tested Pass It Around Fruitlessly For Two Minutes stratagem.

I understand trying to throw Kadri a bone being knocked down C2 to C3 by giving him PP1 time but I think Nylander will be an awesome upgrade to PP1. Unleash the Cracken!

  16-P    91

Nylander up high shading Marner is a secondary playmarker that Marner can bump back to, as well as stretching out the F trying to cut off the top, opening up a seam to 34 or 91 depending on which poison pill they want to deal with.

Clockwise rotation of movement setting up with Marner, Tavares crossing in front of the goalie to present a tip option as well as taking away the eyes. Matthews creeps in looking for soft ice, Rielly cinches up the likeliest outlet route.

Depending on how the play breaks, if Marner loses the puck and the Leafs pick it up, they have either Tavares or Nylander to set up again right away, with Marner taking the net front.

More fun would be

No injuries. That's a big blow to the Bolts even if Hedman comes back and is a little off Round 1. Those concussions can make you not yourself for half year. Great to see Gards back. Pundits are like "fans booed him". Yeah, a bunch of guys in the building one night don't exactly represent the millions of people in a team's fan base.

Great to hear Gardiner's back in the line up. Rosen was alright the last couple of games, but the back end is a lot better when everyone's healthy.

GO LEAFS GO!

So, our Leafs didn't have a game on my birthday this year.

They lost the game the day before.

It would be nice if they could win the game tonight as a belated birthday gift.  Is this too much to ask?

Go Gardiner Go.  Go Leafs Go.

Shocked, shocked I say.  Our Leafs scored the 1st goal!

Marner scores.  1-0 Leafs.

Shocked!

Vas looked terrible on that one. We'll take it. Please explain to me why Babs starts the 4th line after a goal? I guess he wants to kill momentum.
