The talk is Gardiner and Kadri for Luongo.  A little to steep for my liking.

No way I include Gardiner. If (big if) Burke fell on his sword over Gardiner, I completely understand.

If Gardiner and Kadri go for Luongo the Leafs should fire Nonis.

I agree fully.  Kadri is still a big question mark but no chance I'd trade Gardiner in this scenario.

If we trade Gardiner in this deal management has officially gone insane.

Ihate to see anyone get hurt but really hope Luongo tweaks a groin before any trade is made ot give the management time to think this through to the bitter end and how much this sets us back

Luongo-gate continues eh...asking price is pretty high. Doesn't seem to be any desperation in Vancouver to move him

I don't buy that, it's all talk. They have 9+ million in goalie on the books, that's bad in any light IMO.

Or, you know, it could just be that the only teams that had any real interest all had GMs that were smart/prudent enough to wait until after the CBA ordeal had been dealt with so they'd know exactly what kind of landscape they'd be looking at in terms of dealing with that contract.

It's more like a 9+ million insurance plan. How many times have we seen a young goalie look great in his first year then hit a wall / turn to mud in his second?

The same GM's that prudently screwed each other over enough times into a second lockout? I don't buy it.

Well, now you're just being your same old ridiculous self. Welcome back.

Thanks - one more lockout and I disappear under the bridge for good.

He's had two excellent seasons as a backup and was excellent in university and AHL hockey. I think he's a sure thing as a starter. Might not always be top 10, but he's most definitely NHL starter quality.

If the Leafs were taking on bad contracts, I rather have Lecavalier take over from Bozak then Loungo taking over for Reimer.

Yes. Go to capgeek and look up Vancouver's situation next year: they have $55.4 million wrapped up in 13 guys, not including Alex Edler (less than 1 million/guy to fill out 10 spots!). They will use a buyout no doubt, but still, they appear to be in enormous trouble if they can't unload Luongo.

This will not just be Nonis' first test as Leafs GM, it'll be the acid test.  If he overpays for Luongo it'll indicate one of two things, neither of them good: (1) he's willing to go for shot at a quick fix, or (2) the MLSE brass is driving the wagon.

Philly now has interest in Luongo:

I don't see the Leafs being able to keep up with the offer, or the chance to win now.
