Not just the Marlies. If Sparks doesn't do well, we're screwed because Freddie will be playing All the games. This is a huge hit to our goaltender depth.CarltonTheBear said:Philly and Carolina are both dealing with some injury concerns. I wouldn't be surprised if both goalies ended up back on waivers in the next month and the Leafs could get a chance to re-claim them if that happens.
We'll see what happens. Definitely a big blow to the Marlies' goaltending though.

Or do the Leafs claim someone else?

Bullfrog said:I actually thought this would happen. I guess it's sink-or-swim time for Kaskisuo.
I have to imagine the Leafs will try to bring in another goaltender.

A career journeyman back-up who put up his best numbers as a 34-year old is pretty much the furthest thing from a "sure thing".

Yes it had to be Sparks, he earned it last year, you can't base his taking the spot with two bad preseason games, even Babs said so.Frank E said:From my perspective, I have to think that Sparks would have been taken, then there'd be a fair bit of criticism of letting go the AHL goalie of the year for a 35 year old who'll likely see his numbers normalize this season.
